It's a nice enough site, but I'm not crazy about mixing a modern-style website with a Victorian style B&B. They don't go together well. Personally, I'd rather either see the website take on the character of the hotel, or be completely devoid of style, allowing the photographs to speak for themselves.

Point taken. It was a tough decision but much of the interior refurbishment is very IKEA modern if that makes sense mixed up with older furniture. Its an odd mix of styles but the people who run it are very young and modern and the building though its old has a young feel to it, very white, bright and clean.

Perhaps I should look at some other styles for layout - maybe you could suggest something for me to look at ??

thanks

Personally, I would rather see less style, e.g. make the gradients more subtle (or disappear entirely), etc. I see the style of the interior in the photos. I wouldn't call it modern, as there's a lot of use of rustic woods. Maybe Shaker, but that's not it either. It's more an eclectic mix of styles, ranging from Victorian to post-modern. Wouldn't do for a website. Stick with clean, simple lines, and lose the drastic gradients.

I agree it is a mix of styles & yes maybe not modern (mind u the private quarters are not pictured & they are v modern) but yes maybe shaker - lots of bits of odd furniture but then a rather chintzy throw which is funny.

I might play about with removing the white line & throwing a shadow around the content box instead & yes look at removing gradient

I did look at a simpler style in mostly black with blue but the effect was quite dull. I also tried green with quite a flowery feel but the client rejected that right from the start. They liked this look but I was never quite sure & now want to play with it - maybe stick with colours but go for different feel

well its live so at least its a work in progress LOL

The "number 5" text on the header image looks slightly blocky, but apart from that it looks good, sounds like the customer likes it so the blocky text is no big deal.

Everything looks good to me other than the text becomes a little hard to read when it gets by the window where it say's "Quality Bed and Breakfast Accommodation Great Malvern, Worcestershire" i would try to fix that.

Otherwise i think it looks good.

Much better! I still think the gradient on the tabs and headers is too drastic, though. I'd reduce the contrast by about 1/2.

I think you could do something a bit more creative with the font styles for "number 5" and move the tag line down a little bit there is better contrast between the white text and the background.

Otherwise, I think it looks great.

Dont forget the favicon.
