In general, I think one of the issues is that the site doesn't really draw people in. The design needs some work in order to make people understand what the forum is about, how it works, and some of the fun stuff they can discover / predict will be discovered.
There is a lot of white space at the top. Between that and the permanent banner at the bottom, there isn't a lot of space "above the fold" in most browsers, so you only see a small portion of what the site is about.
For example, on the World Prediction section, I (with average resolution settings) can only see one topic.
I would recommend reskinning the forums to allow for more discussions to take more realestate space and reduce the top bar and bottom advertising space.
