I would have a middle page between the news and the content. A page where people can rate and comment. This will create more of a community and more ad views.
Also interlinking topics and posts. Like related posts.

Layout is good but it needs more defined spaces. At first glance, text seems to run into another, so maybe some background to frame out the main content?
I like how the menu and titles are posted on the CNN website. Cleancut. Its a little look and feel of your menu and the title will make your site look so well and professionally as the CNN website.
