Website Review and Suggestions

I put together a small website for my plumbing business. I know it is pretty bad but all I really need is an "online business card".

Do you guys mind giving me opinions and ideas for my site?

If anyone wants to help me make it look good, please PM me

Also, do you think it is ok for search engines? It will hardly ever be updated is why I ask. I am thinking of including a blog and forum so help with updates and fresh content.

Hi

The site is quite clean and the coding is fairly good. I ran it against the w3c validator and it picked up a few errors (http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...Inline&group=0). I would also invest in a quality logo.

I would change the main image as it is a little bit boring. I tend to use http://www.istockphoto.com/ for images.

As a general thing, Adwords doesn't really make you a lot of money unless you have a mass of traffic. Also if you are trying to get potential customers to use your services it isn't a good idea to advertise competitors on the same page.

I would change the stock image in the middle though. I te

It's not that bad, but as someone else mentioned, you need a logo. Without a logo, it looks like a simple Wordpress template.

Your site is not as bad as all that. Matter of fact, I think that you have gotten a good start.

In my opinion, the blue background color clashes with the blue header. Try changing the blue background.

Try adding more content to your site. When it comes to seo, goole loves fresh new content.

Use some more pictures in the content on the home page because the google ads dominate the page. First thing I noticed was the google ads, you want people to notice what your company is about first.

A simple logo would also help.

Ok, so I made a few changes. whois.sc says my "SEO score" is 92%, I assume that's good.

Any comments on the changes?

logo doesn't do anything for me

too much wasted space at the top of the page

the faded pictures look to faded

it might work better to put them into the main text to split it up a bit (at 100% opacity)

huge gap after "about us" heading'

why is "about us" separated from the rest of the navigation?

if you want "contact" to stand apart from the main nav that's good, but make it a button that stands out, nice and large and clear.

Thanks for all the helpful tips. I actually am unable to upload anything or make changes because some idiot is unable to fix the server problems and the hosting company is not helpful at all.

Davemies, I like the logo, problem is that I can't afford anything at the moment.

Right side of the page may be blank to some if you're using an ad blocker.

The menu is now centered and gap is removed.

I wish I could show you guys what I'm talking about if this stupid host would get their sh!t together.

First off your website is not that bad, it's pretty good all things considered, one possible improvement is to reduce the header so we see less of it and more of the text

Personally, I think the site is perfect for a local plumbing company. The site's color scheme is easy on the eyes and the overall site design is very clean.

On your http://www.idl-plumb.com/services.html I would highly suggest adding a few pictures next to the different types of services that you offer.

Overall, I think you are being a little hard on yourself saying that it is terrible because I think for the type of business that you have the site is perfect.

i think when you have a business like this, all you need is a website like you have and a simple google account to put your business info into google local/maps

I think it looks good...the only thing I would do is take off the adsense ads...you want people to call you - not your competitors!
