Thanks for all the replies.

Interesting debate about headings

I have used more than 1 H1 on a page before but I guess I use headings a little like I use them in word. If I have a document that has a front cover I dont use H1 for that heading I style it & then use H1 I guess for each major heading & then subsequent H levels underneath so when I run a table of contents or index its the chapter or section / H1 headings that stand out & show different topics. If I have a large web page with different topical areas like eg News, Blog, Welcome header etc then I would H1 them. In each area if for eg the news area has different articles I would H2 them & then so on. I have never thought that I could only have 1 per web page or that it would matter for search engine.

Anyway I will look at my code & re-read it in light of various comments

There is an issue with the site. There should be a pale gray background behind the text & its missing & I need to sort that out

Thanks though all the comments were very helpful & thought provoking & gave me plenty to work on

Question - In a newspaper page where they have 4 articles is there only one main heading & everything else subheadings or are each article designated a heading of its own ?

Maybe it depends on wether you view the priority of the heading to do with its status or its style. Eg in said newspaper page maybe smaller articles have smaller styled headings to fit the fact that they are stories down the side maybe of a larger article. But if the heading is about status then even the small articles their headings if there is only one heading is its main heading & therefore H1 & if you were running a table of contents then maybe thats what you would want as its article heading

Since many moons ago I started my IT career as a trainer & taught Word etc I think my use of Headings reflects my use of headings in word as levels of importance not just style. On a web page therefore with 3 areas I would give each separate area (if in main body) a H1 heading of its own & maybe use something diff for menu headings etc as in this case I am using them for style not just content

hmmmmmmmmm chicken egg????? terminator time travel thing all over again ???

Hope you guys had great Xmas & Happy new Year

alt ATTRIBUTES! And if you are meaning the "Tooltips" on mouseover, it is the title attribute that is shown.

Only Internet Explorer will incorrectly display the alt attribute text on "hover"

Site looks nice, though I would say..take others advice on the BG matter. Gray is not just appealing for me.

I like the website I think it does a simple job really well. I would probably change the wording of Tariff though as I don't think that is appropriate for a B&B.

Take a look at what other bigger companies use but I would image it just Price or something. Its more obvious that way and then you can keep the customers coming through the door.

On the first impression I noted the lack of space between the sidebar and the footer on the pages where sidebar is longer than the page content.

I have spent a lot of time travelling with work an i must say kudor on the b and b. It looks wonderfull an the photo's really ddo it justice. Maybe adding a discount booking tab for when the season goes quiet you may be able to pull more people in that way.
