Website Review and Suggestions

We just launched a pretty ambitious social media this week. It's call Listoid.

Listoid = Lists + Wiki + Social Bookmarking

User created lists of everything. One place to discover and vote up the best of the web.

Everything on Listoid is created by users. You can add to lists, modify them, and vote up individual items. As folks vote, the order of the lists changes.

You can vote without registering, but if you register, you can also edit lists and create your own. Give it a shot!

Here are some of our best lists:

Celebrities That Look Like Animals
Cutest Wild Baby Animals
Hottest Female Tennis Players

We have over 100 lists so far but the idea is to get thousands. We'd love to hear any criticisms of the design. Not so much looks, but more about utility:

* What parts of the site are confusing or awkward?
* Do you find the content interesting?
* Would you share the content with friends?
* What do you think about the categories?
* What do you think about the color-scheme, name, and logo?
* Does this look like a world-class site?

Wow that's really nice. You must have some cash flow to afford the promotion and design that went into this website. Overall 10/ 10

Thanks. We're shooting for the big leagues, so it's gotta be perfect.

1 year full-time development time for 2 engineers. Marketing it is the tough part though. We don't have cash to burn on ads.

Well it honestly seems like you're doing a good job. Your Alexa traffic rank is just above 200,000. Which means that you might be seeing 500-1000 visitors a day.

Hopefully it catches on with people and they'll use it. Of couse in the webmaster community it probably won't. SEO's only care about one thing: Backlinks. From an SEO point of view it won't benefit us all that much.

However it is definately a cool website. I check out the "Male Chauvanist Celebrity" list and was amused.

Yeah, I don't expect traffic from this place. Just wanted some opinions. This site is really a side project for me. I do SEO for a living

I actually got tired of spamming forums and decided to make something nice for a change. But promoting a large social site is far harder than spamming backlinks as I'm finding out.

Too much errors (http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...w.listoid.com/), not optimized JS/CSS, could need a "rework" for some parts of your site to load much faster.

Design is ... not that good, looks too much like FB and others... nothing eye-catching.

Yeah, code needs to be cleaned up some more. Most of those errors should be easy to fix. The site is heavy on AJAX, a lots live updates and such, so the code is complex.

I don't see how you say the design looks like Facebook. Colors, layout, everything is different. There's hardly any similarity.

Cool idea, but as for me, web design looks unfriendly: dark background with blue blocks, spaces between blocks.
For my opinion your site should be looks like digg.com.
