Ok Ill get to the point. I feel stuck! I've fairly deep into a site for a friend and I just...I just don't like it. I cant figure out how to make creative use of ALL THE WORDS that he needs and I feel the site lacks structure...I don't know. I hate the menu too...And the textures. Haha Anyone have some advice?
I don't think the brown and blue works very well, especially with the hover color change in the navigation. If your friend is the painter, my suggestion is to just sit down with him and review the site as it is. Ask him what he likes, what he doesn't like and tell him that you want honest feedback from him (sometimes in friend type deals people won't tell you honestly) ~
The only thing I noticed is that there seems to be a lot of unused space on the right, maybe try to maximize space usage above the fold; use that space and reduce vertical scrolling
Change the hover color (I would suggest some tone of yellow or that blue which appears in logotype) on the menu and center elements to the background picture.
The content background (white with paint) looks good on the index page but it repeats itself on pages with more height, so I would suggest either making a new one which could have the same gradient effect on the top or make it show only once and leave the content below the background in the same color as its bottom.
Why is the footer so large? There is too much free space at the bottom. I would also add some graphics to relate to his work somewhere on the main page.
There is an over use of the word "OUR" throughout the site. It's even the first word on the home page. Try replacing it in places with the actual company name.
We are a fully insured, full service,
Chad Clemens are a fully etc.....
I think I'd divide the 'Services' page into subpages, since you have several categories. In fact, I'd be tempted to pare down that list, perhaps combine a few.
Your friend makes a really great job but the website looks very poor.
1. If you've used blue as a major color why not to use it in the footer?
2. Re-structure your content, the website looks blank (especially Home & Services pages)
3. Add frames (?) or something similar to make the content stand out a bit.
I like the colour scheme of the pages. You may want to re-read over the text as there are some typos on the home page. I would also maybe add some photos of the work completed on the home page, and move the human picture to the about me page
