OK, I just uploaded the files. I am aware that you can't submit contest entries, etc as I haven't uploaded PHP scripts yet. This is my first site. I built it for my sister's photography business. Any and all comments welcome. Be mean if you must. I have thick skin. www.shannonsaundersphotography.com

The first thing which made me twist is font style/size used & colors. Not a very good mix I must say. Plus, the menu buttons titles look distorted (so does the logo).
I suggest to use a bit softer colors & decrease font size as a start.
PS: black & white is a perfect solution but they contrast too much with each other (dark grey might work better)
Thanks for your input Lisa. I have changed the logo and decreased font size. As far as the distorted look on the menu buttons, I believe it was due to the text shadow effect I had implemented. I removed that as well. The colors... I'm still playing with. I'm not sure what you mean by the font style though. I used verdana for the main text. The different fonts are the package titles and the menu button. Are they the ones you disliked? Again, thanks for the input. Anyone else like to add please?
I think the content is great - it's very engaging and will draw the reader in. I do think you need to put some photos on your home page however, as a photo site it would work well and it's also visually appealing to many. I still need to sort photos out for my home page but I have been told by people that websites are like visual candy - the better they look, the more visitors will linger. Of course the quality of the content needs to be there but this helps keep them there Hope this helps!

Thanks Laura. I m working on the photos as we speak. I hope to have more eye candy within a week.
It's kind of "boxy" and "flat" and could use some round edges and possibly some color gradients?
Thanks plexi. I do have rounded edges in firefox and chrome using CSS3's border-radius. I was hoping to not use a long javascript file or .htc to show the rounded corners in IE. If people do think this would be more beneficial though, I'll check it out. As far as the color gradients, I'll look into something here as well. Thanks again.
I agree with the above poster regarding the use of images. Have you thought about designing your landing page around one central, striking image? Or perhaps a few, to display various types of portraiture (ie: headshots, senior pics, baby, etc).
Absolutely painted. Will probably opt for the second recomendation. The images are on there way and I hope to have some put in place very soon. Thanks to everyone that has made suggestions. Feel free to add, I'm all ears.
The logo looks good. Actually my suggestion is why not to use the same colors on the site?
Concerning the content - what do you think of re-arranging the Home page layout?
For instance, 2 columns: 1st column - welcome message, the second one - testimonials with the contact form underneath.
You do not have a header/banner image, so the menu might look better on the top (and you will have more space for your gift certificate & Facebook widget).
