Postcodes: Manual research, and a few lucky hits along the way. But the database still is under revision, for accuracy, etc, and a NEW IP geolocation system. You can get IP Geo* from MaxMind, but their database is often VERY inaccurate, and it doesn't include postalcodes; it includes ip ranges, which are mapped to "blocks", which contain (often WRONG) coordinates, a city name, and WRONG COUNTRY AND REGION CODES (usually not only wrong, but outdated wrong codes, meaning their is no mapping to the CURRENT code).
So, for the last 2 weeks, i've been building my own NEW database (from scratch), and mapping old codes to new ones, and replacing outdated codes with updated ones, and it obviously revolves around having a postal code to begin with. I'm still mapping old codes to new ones, and gathering more city and postal code data, and converting all of the NON english data i come across into english, etc. When i'm done, it will be the world's most up to date and accurate location database (privately held, anyway; i'm sure the governments's are better than mine --MAYBE).
MaxMind's DB has about 300,000+ location records (MOST of which are junk); MINE has 2,008,100+ records (most of which are accurate, and all of which will be accurate, when it's done). It's the "real deal". It will probably have over 3 Million records when it's done.
I might be selling copies of it for a few hundred bucks a pop when i'm done (with updates at x$ per update, and you can update as often as you like). Let me know if you're interested. It will be a couple weeks before i get it ready to be worth selling.
BTW, i just did a TON of new changes to the website, so if you go back, be sure to hit F5/refresh.
Thanks guys!
