Hi everyone,

I just finished building the world's first Social Gift Guide - www.goodgiftbadgift.com

Basically, how it works, is you suggest gift ideas and rate / review other people's gift ideas. It's all integrated with Facebook Connect and Amazon API, so it's super-simple to use!

Gifts are split into "Good" (Nice) and "Bad" (Naughty) categories.

Whaddya guys think?

I think its a really good idea and the layout, color scheme looks good only thing i would change is theres too much going on the home page... make less good and bad items

Hey tahoe,

Thanks for the reply. Not sure how to reduce the # of items without reducing the functionality of the site. I mean, it's a gift idea site, right? I think the gifts are the most important part. Don't you think?

Thanks again. Cheers.

How about two at a time on a rotation?

Sure, that is doable, but is it better? The idea is to give people gift ideas. That's best accomplished with many products at a time, to browse like a catalog, no?

I like the layout exactly as is.
Especially like the AJAX reload at the bottom of the screen that adds more items as you scroll down. Clever.

Suggestion: You should add "nephew, niece" in the relationships.

I found the filter interface not as smooth as I would have liked.
There should be a "done" button or something after you have finished making your selections. It's a bit clunky to have to click outside the drop down box to get it to close.

You should center the filter boxes. Currently they are over to the left of the screen making things look a little unbalanced.

Dont forget to add a favicon.

Novel idea. Best wishes.

Thanks, TWD, for the awesome, in depth review. I definitely wanna fix the filter system. In using the multiselect boxes, I really didn't like how it flowed, and I haven't figured out what I want to replace it with. There's space on the right because I haven't added the "price" filter yet. Good idea with regards to niece & nephew. I think I'll change the relationships to Mom / Aunt, Dad / Uncle, Son / Nephew, and Daughter / Niece. Whaddya think?
