Hi, please could you give me a review of this website im in the process of completing at the minute

Its not far from completion, just a few things I need to complete. and them make it cross browser compatible.

Best viewed in chrome or safari atm until I fix a few things in IE versions, I think it should be fine in firefox too

Please can you review:

The navigation
  1. Look
  2. Layout
  3. Colours
  4. Speed
  5. Typography
  6. Usability

and whatever else you may feel relevant as well as pointing out any bugs you may come across

- A lot of the content at the moment is just placeholder and the same with the images

- Im going to be redesigning the look of the promo area on the homepage as I dont like the look of it so any ideas with that would be great

- I know the contact page isn't the greatest at present but im going to be improving it

the test site is: http://flexdesigns.co.uk/box/adamsons

Thanks for your time.

I liked it

1. 3/5 (Visual materials are not in high quality)
2. 5/5
3. 3/5 (Maybe compatible but green on blue is strange)
4. 4/5
5. 5/5
6. 5/5

hi ukrainarts i really appreciate the review, which visual materials would you say are not high quality, and do you think that the blue and are strange on each other or alongside each other altogether

thanks again

well I don't like such bright green color! It kills my eyes.
Second - Font size is quite big
Third - input forms has also very thick borders!
So this is my opinion!
Good luck

2. do you mean on the promo boxes and quick enquiry? i agree. i dont like the Promo boxes all together so will probably re-design

3. i will test out a smaller thickness to see if it looks any better

Here's my 2 cents buddy:

Look 3/5
Layout 4/5
Colours 4/5
Speed 5/5
Typography 4/5
Usability 5/5

I like - speed, cleanliness, ease of navigation.

Not so keen - on the overall feel. For a law firm who I would expect to have a "serious" looking site, this looks a little like an IM product site to me. Might not to others though. Also don't like the scroll bar on the drop-down menu.

Good job overall though!

Nice clean design, not too many designer fripperies to distract the eye or the mouse - good.

I quite like the four boxes but you'll need to work on what images go where - you don't want the passport appearing in criminal law, for example, and you don't want two the same at any one time.

Drop the idea of a forum - horrible thought and it'll get two post a year. Change it to a blog with firm members taking turns to write a piece on an agreed subject.

Thanks for the review Paul, much appreciated

Yeah at the minute there are only four images on the department slider as placeholders but im going to be locating all the images shortly

Yeah I was thinking the forum wouldn't be effective, as well as a blog Im going to put in the functionality for users to be able to ask a question. and then a member of staff here will answer and reply to the person but the Q&A will also be added to the FAQ section for the related department

Thanks Again

Regards, Flex

is there an apostrophe missing from somewhere in Adamsons law?

The navigation
nice and big
the 'departments' bit with the scroll bar closes to easily if you move straight to the scrollbar

not so sure you need the xtra info of the title attributes on the menu items as they are pretty self- explanatory, but guess it doesn't hurt to have them there

Look
Layout
Colours
i would try silver text instead of green on that blue background

touch darker text for a little more readability and authority (say #333 whereas now it's #444)
Speed
fast
Typography
fine. not sure whether it's clear or plain you could try a contrasting font for the headings but it's fine otherwise - oh maybe a touch small for the main copy
Usability

the favicon is a bit weedly looking - duplicate the lines maybe - literally in ps/ill/fw/whatever

good job though!

Thanks for the review it has been very helpful

In all the literature I've seen for the company they have never used an apostrophe in the company name so i presume not

i use finger gestures to scroll so thanks for pointing this out. Im thinking of removing the scroll completely . . . and maybe splitting the departments into 2 columns

I agree i may remove them except for abbreviated words

Im going to play around with the promo boxes and try to get them looking up to scratch because im not happy with them myself atm.

I also agree about the favicon which i will improve to make clearer.

Thanks again , Flex
