Website Review and Suggestions

This is my first website and all of the content and coding has been done within the last 30 days. But, now that I have taken a break and have looked back on my creation, I am unhappy with the appearance of my content areas.

I welcome any ideas to make the content more readable, or any design changes that you think I should make. I am a fan of simplicity, so I probably won't be very receptive to ideas regarding fancy things like animations, transitions, and such, FYI.

typography wise on the content. . . .

dont center align the copy, left align.

maybe decrease your line height just a touch

maybe decrease the content width a little.

general feedback,

do something with the banner it looks ugly. maybe what id do is remove the banner completely. create a logo and place that at the top left of the screen where the banner was and remove the google ad from the side of the page and put one in the header instead.

instead of the ad next to the content create a side bar containing for example latest articles. or hot articles . . something like that to help the users find other content you have easily and keep them on the site

put a break between the content area and sidebar instead of having them look the same colour

add a few images.

And clear your floats so the footer text ISN'T halfway up the page.

Chris: Thank you for informing me of this problem. May I ask what browser you are using? I haven't seen it in Firefox, chrome, or IE. Thanks.

Flex: I will play around with your typography suggestions, but it will take some time before I can find some suitable images or a new logo. The reason that sidebar ad is there is because the page was WAY too plain without it... so I will have to wait until I find some good stock pics. Thank you for the input.

Thank you all for the kind comments, and I hope that I am being too critical of my own work, but to me, the look of the content area is too similar to that of a piece of paper, and that bothers me for some reason.

Rouge13.... you say .. its to similar to a piece of paper.. but you also said that you arent willing to go beyond plain.. you can fix that.. change the coloring up a bit... and maybe use links that go to different pages? i dontknow just throwing something out there..

chris means the bottom right footer text pointing to the template your using

I think there are many things to improve:
1) Logo
2) I would limit the number of banners
3) Ad more images and graphics
But now website seems to me a little bit borring!

More needs to be added, you should make it more intrestings by adding more than text (videos, images)
