Website Review and Suggestions

I've just started on this site and have finished with the layout. Now I want some opinions on it , how to improve it (besides content, I know that), colors, font, etc.

FYI: Yes I know the link for KM Customs at the bottom of the page doesn't link to anywhere, I am also working on that site right now.

Hi Twizted,

I think the image in the header could be a bit more striking. Also I'm not sure about the links changing from blue to red when you hover over them (maybe a lighter blue?) but that's just my personal preference.

On the whole it does look neat and tidy though. Not bad.

I changed the color for hover on links and made it a really light blue. Your right, it looks a lot better than the red did.

The most impressive part is the code! Congrats on a very nice table-less design. The only niggle is that I'd perhaps work a little on your logo, other than that . . . looking good!

I can't take all the credit for the code, I found it on a post here on the forums awhile back when I was just starting to use CSS. After playing around with it and learning more about CSS I have learned how to use it more effectively for a clean site.

The logo, yes I would agree it is in need of some work but I wanted to get the basic layout finished first. However my graphic skills are not the greatest so I'm open to suggestions on the logo too. I want to keep it simple as the photo is set as the background with a logo added. If anyone wants to create a logo that they think would fit I'd be open to give it a shot.

The site layout is great! You did a nice job on matching it up with the forums. Even the title fits in with everything. I have an issue with it not being more bright. Your being sucked into insanity. That might be the whole goal and if that is what it is it works great.

Hi Twiz,

Pretty good stuff. I find the black middle part kind of void-like though - slightly off-putting for me personally.

My other main niggle is how come the forum link opens in a new window? I hate it when I follow a link which seems to be to part of the same site, and it opens in a new window. Again though, this is a subjective thing.

Overall, I feel like maybe it could just do with a touch more insanity...

I've had the response several times in other places. I like the forums opening in a new window as then I don't have to leave the main site unless I choose too. However, I think I am going to add an option to have it opened in the same window or a new window.

FYI: No changes will be noticed until after 12am CT as I am working tonight and won't be updating the site until then.

I like the layout, the header is great, but i think its to dark, i cant look for long time at the site, maybe you should lighten the colors a bit, links in lighter blue, try some natural blue colors...also i would make this bacground gray (like on forum) not black.

I agree ... great coding ... fast loading ... but just way to dark. I wouldn't be able to stand at the site for that long.

- I lighted the link color but I think it should go lighter, maybe the same as the headers.

- Changed the background of the content area from black to gray (same as the rest of the background).

edit: After going to work and thinking, I'm starting to lean toward changing the background for the content to white, the text to black, and making the headers and links a little darker. Thanks this would look better than all of the dark gray?

- Changed the top graphic of the main site to the one gringo provided.
- Tried the content background white but didn't like it, made the entire site to bright. So I changed it back to gray.
- Increased the font size by 1px so the it is a little easier to read.
- Changed the link color to match the header color for a more uniform look.
- Removed target="_blank" from the forums link
