Website Review and Suggestions

Anyone got any ideas as to how to keep this from looking like a freaking pop up ad?
It's pretty much what the person wants, but I think i'm taking him too literal... he wants it to look like a paper ad... well it does, buy it's not working for me.

In ie 6 (on win ME if that matters) the black 1 px border on the sides doesn't appear until you hover over the top buttons.

I don't think the design is bad. The only thing that seems funny to me is the square talk bubble. It's weird to me that it's square and it's weird to me that it's so close to her mouth. It feels more like an ad to me than the typical site does, but it certainly has the call to action that I suspect you were shooting for.

Just my thoughts...

i dont think it looks like a popup ad really

the red is alot better if u ask me

and the picture of the girl... is well... kinda cheesy because of the "thanks" bubble it looks way to.... i dont kno... just cheesy

besides that minor thing

red is the best one!

The red is definately easier on the eyes. It kind of looks like those advertising coupons sent through the mail.

i definately prefer the red, however i would work some flooring into the page. the lady with the verbal bubble is kind of cheesey in my opinion. sorry but its a great start. sometimes its hard to get a persons mental vision to come out perfectly on the web but I would definately discuss this with the site owner and ask thier opinion on it all as well. If your site owner loves what they see the only changes you should suggest would be anything pertaining to the marketablity of the site. PEACE

Thanks for the suggestions DesignerChick, but that's my problem. The site owner loves it, but... I don't.

The stores color is orange, there's no physical location and there's really no product... blah, these types of sites drive me crazy!
