Website Review and Suggestions

I am creating the site for the Nanyang Technological University's Debate Society.. I have created a sample design... Just wanted to know which one would suit better..
NTU Debating Society

i think second design is better. Everythime half headers are god for me.

None is good. Too tall header, I'd advise to make it shorter. It is not a presentation website, but informational one, right?

I like the design, but as mtishetsky noted, the image is just too tall. Make it half that big and I think it will do just fine, and your content will be immediately visible w/o scrolling down past the big header.

Let me know what you think. You may not like it, It needs more work, but it will give an idea.

the last one you did is so much better then the frist 2 give the 3rd one some more work but over all the 3rd one by far i would make the nav. bar stand out a lil more its a lil hard to read

I think the second design is the best, and I also agree that it should be a bit shorter. The first one creates a horizontal scrollbar on my screen (1024x768).

the horizontal scrollbar should not have come.. the image is about 700 pix wide and the div is set 100% width.. Can someone help resolve this problem ????

In your css for #content you have width: 740 -- 740 WHAT ? Give it a unit : 740px , and the horizontal scrollbar disappears
