Website Review and Suggestions

Hello everyone,

We have a website here and I would like you to take a short review of it and tell me what you think should be done in order to improve the site as well as its services, offers, information etc..

The site is http://www.nationalvisas.com.au - a site that offers a free online visa assessment to help you migrate in Australia.

So what do you think? how's the site content? how about the services? Is it still missing something?

im not at all a fan of fluid width sites

id scrap the grey. as a rule i never use grey. instead pick a promentent color on the site and desaturet it.

the bloke on the home page holding the builders hat looks like the gardener in Desperate Housewives.

The nav at the top is quite clustered. I dont like the way the text is on 2 lines.

I think you should have a much better "call to sale" on the homepage.

scrap the wordy text and have a big "get your visa here" - that is what your selling!

all and all its fine.

You've got a horizontal scrollbar on 800x600 (the same one exists on 937x768, which is my oddball viewing area...don't ask why.)

The menu Javascript should be in its own file, rather than part of the pages.

I don't mind the menu on two lines. It doesn't bother me much. Nor does the grey.

The information is relatively clean. A bit excessively SEOed, but certainly not egregious.

Simply put, if you just made a layout that was a little more modern (this looks sort of 2001ish), I think you'd have it.

As mentioned above, the site really has to work on small (laptop) screens. Currently it would have horizontal scroll bars.... a bit no no.

Try working on the colours, use a more consistant theme with maybe a more "pro active" choice?

Otherwise, good.

I'm working now on the site's content as well as the sub-pages.
I know its not noticeable at all.
But you may still take a look at it - National Visas. And see if something has changed or improved

I'm a newbie at design but an old hand at looking at sites!! good initial design but consider the following
1. use more vibrant colours but not garish, your colours do not represent people ideas of their new country
2. fluid design (in firefox seems to give poor lower page setup)
3. the people montague, top left, should include a family group, mom, dad, couple kids; this will be an immediate visual acceptance that Australia welcomes young families
4. Lose a lot of the initial text, state clearly your vision using your 'USPs' telling immigrants what you do and why they should ask you in particular to help them. All in the first para'

I like the color and the general idea of the website. I wouldn't change anything.
