Link-Tools
This is a site work in progress. Most of the main links work, and their subsidiary links kinda work, also i had to repeat a million images b/c the client hasn't given me their stock photos yet.

NONE THE LESS....my site seems to lack the "come hither, oh wondering tool seeker" that a site like www.mactools.com has.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Your site is very nice but I see what you mean in comparison.

The template of Mactools is extremely dynamic with the splashes of red and the product pictures actually displaying products in use. The product pics even integrate into the color scheme. The whole site is one of energy and activity.

I think you would need to find a way to integrate some of that into your own site.

I think the biggest problem with your site, as stupid as it sounds, is simply in the graphic font you selected. It looks like Arial to me...maybe use Futura or Franklin Gothic instead?

The only other major difference I can see between theirs and yours is that "grunge" effect, and I'm not sure that's good from a selling point of view.

You're also making some major assumptions when it comes to the MAC Tools site:
  • People find it.
  • People can use it.
  • People buy as the result of it.
In other words, you're assuming that it works. It may well not work at all. It's a good site, don't get me wrong...but it may be a dead asset to them, you don't know.

One other thing: I think borzoid is right about the pics being in use. I'd have some sort of a scroll of about 10-15 different photographs of product application.

i would say mac is doing quite well with being all over big shows like Monster Garage and Overhaulin'

I'm not as concerned with looks. i'm worried more about the interactive side of the site. Do i need some more customer-oriented pieces that says "you tell us your thoughts" or "enter your email to get monthly updates" or some sort of marketing "thing" that gets users to become a bit more involved.

I think the key with that is in the icons and details of the layout, for example, as borzoid said, Mac Tools has lots and lots of splashes and careful stylizing.

Tweak the center gradient a little, and give that black portion more style, more borders, icons whatever. It should be a start.

You will be surprised however how many people will buy from a totally unprofessional site.. So, my 2 cents would be to concentrate on getting more traffic.

Your scrolling text lists features not benefits.

Its the old story I went to the store to buy a 1/4" drill not because I wanted the drill but because I wanted a 1/4" hole.

Tell more about what is in it for the purchase, what benefits do they get, lifetime guarantee is good but who backs it up, etc

Try reading some stuff from sales experts like Jay Abraham, etc. and write your copy to suit.
