Agreed...love the freebies and your design isn't too bad. Lots of links and contents which is great for search engines. Good color scheme, not too distracting and a very nice layout to easily find what you're looking for. You also have the perfect domain name

If you want to get alot of information on visitors, I suggest Google Analytics.

I only see two problems, one very minor and one potentially major...

MINOR: The red hober status of the menu on the purple background? Not very appealing

POS. MAJOR: Have you thought about bandwidth? You get enough visitors downloading you might have your server come to a standstill. Maybe you should link to the files externally and not host them directly

There are plenty of freeware/shareware portals out there that work and look better. You really need to be sure this is what you want to be spending time and effort on making. Perhaps narrowing down your site freeware to specially selected freewares that are in-depthly reviewed and properly rated with several links (in case any of the other downloads are broken) would be much more valuable to your time and money.
