I just started a brand new site, ProfitGeek.com
We're running a competition at the forums and giving away over $1000 in cash and prizes.
What do you think of the site? Review all the sections and take a look, we have a nice blog, forum, directory, tools, etc.
Thanks for all feedback .

Simply stated, it "looks" okay, but has some major flaws.
The first is the directory...I clicked on 3 or 4 categories and found nothing at all! Empty categories are not good in any directory.
Next on the agenda...there aren't any real money-making resources. None that I immediately saw anyway.
The font isn't adjustable in IE.
There seem to be a bunch of disjoined components (blog, forums, main site, directory) with no common look and feel.
This just looks like a slapassed attempt to do exactly what the site claims not to do, which is get rich quick.

Thanks for the critique. We are currently working on still getting the site going, we just wanted to launch and launch the contest to get members to the forums. Our directory is brand new so it's not going to be filled in a day.
And I believe we are going to be working on a new forum skin soon, and probably match a new directory skin with that, because the site and blog look similar.

It looks like it is a tweak away from looking really good, but right now not so much.

Everything looks good except the right navigation, you should fix that.

Not sure of the colour combination. The homepage looks a bit bland.

The colors work, but are too seperated. Try using some shading to make them pop out and the edges stand out in less of a flat way. You've got the "web 2.0" bright color scheme going strong, now work on making it flow together.
Something that turned me off at first glance, was the hokey dollar signs on the forums. You gotta let those go. And try to keep the salesman pitch down to a minimum on the front page. Even though you say this isn't a get rich quick scheme, it just sounds like you're defending your get-rich-quick scheme (if that makes sense) heh.
Definitely a cool idea, and most of my suggestions/changes can be made after you're on your feet.

Hey everyone, I also own Profit Geek.com I'm in partnership with Sup3rnova. I do all the coding, html work, etc, etc on the site. Sup3rnova is the marketing guy! So I figured since you guys seem to be giving the most feedback so far that I would come here and try and get some more advice. I havn't changed to much yet as Sup3rnova just sent me the link to this topic today. I did change the right navagation some... Someone said it didn't flow right. So what do you guys think of the right nav bar now that is on the homepage? I'm kinda stuck on what i should do with it. I changed the colors to match to top bar but I still think it needs some work.
Also, if you have any other ideas or suggestions please let me know. We are thinking about changing the main page and putting the info there into an about us page and then having news on the homepage like the 3 lastest blog posts titles, lastest forum posts topics, etc, etc. What do you guys think of that?
Thanks for all the suggestions and please keep them coming!
Also, I know I said Sup3rnova is the marketing guy but i have to throw in a plug! Signup for our message boards or put a link on our site from yours and you could win some great cash prizes! More information is at the forums so sign up today. We are also an ad sharing revenue forum!

Yes, offer ways to actually make money, being a geek. Just saying you can make more money being a geek isnt really doing anything for anyone.
I like the site alot though.

Yes exactly what we are planning We have a few ideas I'm currently scripting like a link exchange program. I know, theres alot of those already, but this one is going to have some features never seen before and also it will of course be free, but my question is what else would you guys like to see that would help you! We can come up with tons of tools and I can code them but if they don't actually help you and its not the stuff you guys need it would be pointless, so anything you would like to see?

I really like your logo image, but I absolutely hate how your text is formatting. Your site's text is spaced way too much. It doesn't look professional and is a major turn-off.

Hmm could you maybe explain a little more about what you mean? Are you talking about the because of the logo being on the right so the rest of text is in one small column? If so, what does everyone else think about that? Do you think the spacing of the words is bad?
