Hi all,

I could definitely use some constructive criticism from fellow webmasters on my site: http://www.trudeauconsulting.com

First off, I have to say this is a DNN site, so there are some aspects that I have little control over (use of tables, code structure, etc). I did post a similar "review my site" message recently and one guy said the first thing I need to do is fix my site, and he pointed me to a w3c tester that showed all sorts of errors.

I've taken that up with DotnetNuke.com but for the time being, I have to put that on the back burner. I'm mostly concerned about look and feel.

So I'm constantly updating the site and adding content (and I know I have to add more reference sites - working on that too), but if this were your site, what would be the first thing you change or add?

Thanks so much in advance! Just getting started and can really use the advice.

Personally i thing you're trying to do too many things on one website. When i first went to the site I thought it was for a web design company, then i became confused when i came across a section for books, another section full of tutorials, and another section devoted to advertising other businesses (including web hosting services!.... not a great idea to advertise the competition on your website!)

A website cant try to satisfy the needs of every single visitor that just happens to stumble across it. Instead focus on your target audience. What do you want to achieve? Who are you trying to attract? What do you have to offer?

Yes, I agree with Flatlander. You need to decide what your main target is, and focus on it; it would be otherway difficult to satisfy all visitors.

Other than that, I like the graphical layout.

Thanks guys - I appreciate the feedback, and those are great points. I guess I was just trying to put as much content on there as possible but I think I should narrow the spectrum.

header and footer tooooo big

only border in between is perfect..

no picture matching

looks as if corel draw was used to create hearbox.
with rounded corners. which scatters i mean corners are not perfect.. redesign box of same size and then make its corner round

overall 4/10

thanks

I think you should look at the formatting of this site. Look at the use of headers - on your home page, it's not clear what the actual header is - the picture of the garden path sort of distracts from the content.

Your fonts change throughout the site - try to keep everything standardised across the site.

I'd also go for a more solid colour scheme - the colours you use are bit too pastel like IMO, and you've kind of got blurred edges on your background images.

You've tried to a lot here and you've obviously put work into this which is good. Is there any reason why you are using DNN though? Maybe you'd have more control over this if you built it from scratch?

I also believe you are trying to put too much on the same webiste.

Also change your header navigation to text links.

Thirdly, you are offering website design and your own website is not that much search engine friendly itself.

Make it easier to navigate.

ok....First impression of your website...Colors are nice and the big logo really stands out, good job! but thats about it....

Second your menu is neat but get rid of the extra space around it and try to align it with the body margin (same goes for the logo). Also change the background color to black or something other than the same image as with the logo.

Also you need more content and don't make the text centered...do it left...The big ad on the right is great and really is where is should be...although I am not sure about the garden picture...

Thanks!!!
