Website Review and Suggestions

I have tried to get some feedback on this site on other forums. There was some helpful feedback; most of it was not.

Zhorkow's CargoShip uses a simple (meaning no graphics, and an easy layout) template I based on a Zymic template. I was primarily making the site to load and navigate quickly.

It is a prototype site; meaning that I am using it to test a few ideas for a site on which I am presently working. This basically means that I don't care what the site looks like; I am primarily interested in the mechanics.

Are you having any difficulty with navigating the site? (there are a few missing pages I already know about)

Since it uses frames, do you have any suggestions for the seo of the site? (Yes, I know I used frames, and I just said so. I used frames for the speed of loading new content and am not interested in designing a new template which reloads the page every time. I used frames on purpose.)

I am going to be tweaking the colors a bit. If you have any suggestions for colors you think would work well with the design (such as the scrollbar) it would be appreciated.

And yes, that cheesy looking thing at the bottom is rocket boosters. It is intended to be cheesy.

I would recommend changing your background and colors as you stated you were thinking about above. I really couldn't recommend any colors to you because its your site

However, I can explain whats wrong with the colors you do have now

The background 1st of all is used alot. Its mostly used by new site builders, what I mean is go through some geocites sites or other free providers and you will notice the black star background alot. Also, Black and Yellow, or Gray and Yellow isn't a color scheme that attracts people. The problem is that its causes the eyes to wander because of the contrast of the colors.

I know its not much but I hope it helps. For the background I would use a nice grandient images. Maybe a darker gray to lighter gray since you seem to like that darker colors and it would goto a light color so thats its easier on our eyes

I would also try a blue color with it. You don't see blue and gray together alot but try it and I think it would work well on your site. You just have to find that right blue color

Hope I helped at least a little! As for the rest of the site I think its a great start. I know your going to frames on purpose but there are other options like Ajax that might work well for you...

Thanks for the recommendations. You are right, I do like the dark colors; I have a bad habit with #333333

I was thinking of implementing a color scheme on the content pages with a little more subdued orange text against the gray background, like on this forum. I do want to make it easy to read, yet comfortable to read as well; I don't know why I went with the white text because I frankly don't like the white text.

Thank you for suggesting Ajax. It may be useful for the new site I am working on. I'll update you on both sites and perhaps you may have some recommendations for the new one. You have been very helpful.

I have changed the background on the site. I hope it is more pleasing than the previous background.

I am going to place a different banner on the top of the site (someone recommended that it should be a little larger). I will use the same background for the banner, but will call it the wormhole; any visitor who clicks on it will be taken to a random site (there will be a notice on the homepage and in the alt tag about the purpose of the wormhole). I will be happy to consider anyone's site for inclusion. Just post a link to your site in this thread.

Suggestions:

1- Put your navigation on the left side and the sponsors links on right.

2- Change the logo on top

3- Add a header for your forums section

4- Get rid of the frames. It is awful for SEO. It will do much more damage (traffic) than good (speed loading of pages)

5- Change the font to Verdana, Arial, sans-serif
