Website Review and Suggestions

Hi, ive just started a new site, and need your feedback on it. all feedback welcome the good, the bad, and the ugly.

had a previous site www.circleoflinks.com.au (which i now longer use) now ive

started www.AussiePages.com.au . its still under construction so some links may not be working. but need your feedback on the site. what i should do, shouldnt etc.

First thing that jumped out at me was that this is a business directory, yet the ads are for children's parties, lingerie (I THINK it was for lingerie), games & jokes, and roses. Not exactly directed at the type of visitors you are expecting. I would also take the grey bar at the top (with the 'Make us your homepage' links) and either do away with it, or move it down. Your directory listing should at least be partially seen without having to scroll down. Also, I'm not seeing any content in any of the categories.

I know those ads will be going. the directories listings will be added soon. I just wanted to make sure everythings ok first. I was also thinking about moving that grey area witht the 'make us your homepage etc links' somehwere else. Id have to look into it. with the joke of the day / games etc thats there to bring people back to the site. yes people advertise there site there but i thought it would be a good idea becuase it may bring more people back for the jokes and that. what do you think? anything else i should do to the site??

You have made quite a very good job, but the site to me is a little bitty and there is no underlying design that holds it all together.
The site looks as if you have just thrown some of the content on the page without actually planning making lots of 'white space' ( blank spaces ).

Really like the colours you have used though, they look well on the page.
