Website Review and Suggestions

This is the first site I have ever created. It's for a high school basketball team and pretty much uses straight HTML.

heavy graphics. opens slow. very much dark colors used.

You can see too much of the background, but maybe the you created the layout with a smaller resolution. The navigation looks too generical, but I like how the sub-menue points blend in.

Taking far too long to load in IE and Opera. I like the colours, they give it a royal feel, but too many images. Try and keep it all one length, make the menu buttons blend in more than they do right more. Try redoing with a smaller resolution in mind. I like what you have done with the sub-points, nice touch, but try to get the menu buttons to blend in better with the rest of the site.

I'm going to be blunt. It's disgusting. However, you've done pretty well for your first site.

I have one tip: buy a CSS design book.

Congratulations! If this is your first website that you built, I would love to view others that you would build. I am not an expert and I don't know much at all about html, but I would rate your site as a 10. Job well done.

I am not going to be as mean ad the others but I am going to say that you need to get lighter colours in the background and if you need anyone to photoshop any of those pictures that have white in the back ill do them for 1$ each.

First I want to tell you don't take any of these comments too bluntly from myself or the other members. I've been doing webdesign now for about 8 years off and on and I gotta say that for your first site you should be very proud. This is a heck of a first site and many people would not be able to do much better before the critique's hit. When I saw, "my first page" I thought oh great and expected something horrible but you're on the right track

a few suggestions on the site though
Your images in the center are distorted you should either resize them to all the same size or just not set the width="400" height="200" and let them use their real size. It appears as though you're setting the width to 400 to keep it within that table column if that's the reason you should just resize the image to a width of 400 with a graphics editor. If you don't have one pm me and I'll resize it for you.

Your navigation links on the left are very hard to read maybe change the font and color of them to make it easier to read. The graphics are also hard to make out.

As far as everyone saying too many graphics that's not completely true but the size of your graphics are way bigger than they need to be. The banner for instance can be taken from 150kb to 30kb if you change it to a jpeg and compress it a bit. Quality loss would be minimal. There were also several other graphics that were larger than they needed to be but again if you need help just pm me.

On a good note it's well organized and a heck of a project like I said earlier. You've got a talent and keep it up!

It seems that you have the html part down. You just need to design the site a little bit better. But it is your first time so good job for your first try.
