Based on some info i got from this site, I have finally put my first css site together.

Any thoughts on what i should change, add, remove, etc...?

http://www.insiteci.com/sample/test/

Please remember that this is my first crack at it, so be gentle!

I will be adding some pics shortly as well.

Why did you use (i)frames when already using CSS?

Well, if there was a darker background it would be a big improvement to my eyes. The strong blue and strong red are just a too big contrast.

Try to use some CSS to customize the scrollbar(s). The content box/frame could be moved a little to the left or the width of it could be increased to the left (because I see there enough free available pixels of black) and maybe on the right could be a few pixels further away from the edge/border.

I like the menue links but they could stand out a little more. Maybe make them bold or put line like this | between them, because on first sight I couldn't find a navigation. The quality of the typo above the menue looks too low, if it would be sharper it would definitly look cool.

Well, that's really all I can say... of course later the text in the content box needs more formatting.

Not bad for your first try. I like the graphics. It's a good place to start.

thanks for having a look!

I have added a few things, like a border, some pics, etc.

It sure feels good to get a handle on something like this in a day or two.

Now i can start to be more effective!!!

Woohoo!

I am also a newbie just getting to grips with css and am impressed at what you have achieved for your first effort.
Personally I would not let the left frame go right to the bottom of the page as it looks as though there is something missing - but that's just my thoughts.
You have obvisously taken a lot of trouble over your site because as far as I could see there were no typos or bad grammer which often YELLS at you from hastily put to-gether sites.
Any way keep at it because I think you've got something there.

First off, I think your design concept is great. My son owns a tattoo business and I do see the need for the "in your face" colors that you have ~ love that!

What I would change since you changed your first page to a 'welcome' page (before going to the actual main page), is to add an "Enter Here" (or some such wording) button in place of the "Home" button. I like this "enter" page ~ it just needs some clarification in the navigation area.

Then on the second page that the "home" button takes you to, there is no need for the home button there.

Some changes I would make to your wording ~

Original:

Tattoos are a very old form of body art and have been practiced from a very long time in civilized human history. The history of tattoos is very ancient and seems to be of thousands of years old and even before the birth of Christ. The recorded indication of tattoos comes from the ancient Egypt where wall paintings as old as 2000 BC have been suggesting the use of tattoos in the ancient Egyptian society.
Change to:

The word “tattoo” can have many origins as words in many different languages have the same meaning and similar pronunciation. Different civilizations have been recorded to use the word tattoo or at least practicing of coloring their body parts for different reasons have been recorded.

Different civilizations have been recorded to use the word tattoo, or engage in the practice of coloring their body parts to beautify the body, and for religious or tribal reasons, just to name a few.

All-in-all I really enjoyed your site and hope these suggestions will be helpful.

Best,

Jules

This is a nice site imo, i'm completely new to web design so i don't have a lot of knowledge about it, but comming from the average person w/no design experience who may visit your site it's very nice.

The background doesn't go with the central theme, but I can see a nice looking site emerging. Work on the body background, though. Use a different color and pattern.

I beg to respectfully disagree on this ~ it is a tattoo site. The image(s) in the background are representative of tattoos...and he has a red, white, and blue theme re: Faith and Glory.

the background is a drawing the owner did.

I have voiced my concerns about the background, but it goes with the myspace account.

The wording isn't going to stay, i took it from another site just to show how it will look.

I am going to change the main links though. That's a great suggestion.

Thanks all for the good feedback! Makes me feel like i've accomplished something!
