Honestly...what do you think?

Since there is a lot of money raising web sites around I've decided to do it differently. All of them either bring revenue to the site owner only, or some specified organization or charity.
This is my attempt to combine it all. What do you think?

Good luck with it.. it will be interesting to see how it comes along. Site design is good colors are good.... you should be in good shape as long as you find some particpants.
You might want to add a cap to the number of people that will be allowed to join in this endevor though. As raising a million dollars sounds good and getting a cut of it at 250,000 but what if I had to split that with 50,000 people is it really worth my time to even read the site for 5 dollars? not mine but just some food for thought. And i realize it could potential earn more than a million dollars especially with 50,000 people involved but with the name raiseandshareamillion 1,000,000 is going to be the number on everyone's mind

Thanks for your review.
There is no limit on the number of participants. Simply put, the whole raised amount wil be shared 50:50, meaning, 50% will go to charities and max 34 participants. If you read the rules, you'll see.

Not considering the idea at all, I don't like the layout and color use.

I think the grammer needs to be checked. Stating of with "First of all" does not seem to be profession but that could just be my opinion. There are a few others but I don't want to be pick. Also, I could not scroll down but it could have been my computer.

the site is well designed.
your idea is good,
but i think there is not much information on the site.
while charities and participants only get 25% each. who will claim the other 50%? i think it is the site owner.
you may give info about who will receive the money clearly.
what organizations? etc.

I don't think that there are problems with "grammer" or grammar, first of all seems to be OK, But I would definitely put the idea of the site in the title tag to get the idea to the visitor without making him/her read the whole text. If you use breaking into paragraphs, they should be at reast approximately of the same length.
I would also recommend you to change the design, the whole thing should be more appealing to visitors, brighter, with flash anomation.

Suddenly I am beginning to feel guilty about not giving away the whole amount. If somebody took the time to read through the first two pages, then it would be clear I am actually prepared to give away over 50%. Meaning, I will end up with less than 50%. If you know of someone else that gave away more than 50% of their yearly income, providing they weren’t loaded before, let me know. I will display their picture in my Hall Of Fame, so everyone can appreciate their good-heartedness.
As for the “you may give info about who will receive the money clearly. what organizations?”, again, if you don’t read, you’ll never know. You can find your answer in the FAQs section. And even if I wouldn’t manage to establish a relationship with any charities, I will still give them the money. I’ll simply open Yellow Pages and pick 4 or 5 charities by random.
The whole idea is: Why don’t you take part? It is for a good cause and you may even make some money for next year’s Christmas. And if you are among the first 20 participants, you’ll make some money for sure.
So why don’t you take part?

I don't want my visitors to be destructed with animations or get confused with elaborated graphics. My goal was to make the site as clean as possible without it looking childish. The colour scheme along with the maple leafs will change with seasons. It is autumn in England now. Later you will see a snowman and a Christmas tree. I don't plan to mess the site up with Flash.

you asked what we thought and posted the site for review the questions you got from the users here are the questions that will pop into people's heads. Some of the comments you made back here seems ungrateful to say the least. The critiques here are for your benefit not ours. "If you don't read you'll never know"
if you don't openly display and share this information where people can see it clearly and at first glance why should they read? and posting for a critique expecting everyone to read every word on every length is a bit out of hand..... I think your site is alright but posts like this definately won't get me to join up with you, attitude is the other part of making something like this work..

I surely didn't mean to sound ungrateful. I value the opinions of all people who care to say what they think.
I see what you are saying, but there are so many people who want to know something about this and that....therefore, some clever person invented “Frequently Asked Questions” areas. I would be happy to display answers to all questions on the index page, but then who wants to read the entire FAQs area along with the introduction? I was hoping people would read the FAQs before asking or complaining.
Please forgive me for the way I talk. If you find the whole idea with my site worth a while, please join and share.

Hi
I first visited your site in IE6 on XP SP2 and couldn't scroll any further than the opening line of the third paragraph.
I then checked it out in FF and had no problwms so you need to fix the site for IE as most of your visitors are likely to be using this.
As for the overall design I liked it but as to it being a success only time will tell.
Good luck.
Alan.

Thanks for your reviews. I've made some changes in the stylesheet. The scroll problem in IE6 and lower should be resolved now. Please, let me know if you find anything else that needs fixing. I've spent so much time with it that I can't see mistakes obvious to everyone else.
