as the title says I am redesigning a site and I want to know your thoughts on different layouts I've come up with

the original site is
http://www.usamadecaps.com

*note none of the links on the redesigns work*
the first possiblity (I don't like at all) http://www.usamadecaps.com/newcap
the second possibility http://www.usamadecaps.com/vm
the third and final is http://www.usamadecaps.com/vm2

The original site needs to be redesigned because of the width it's too narrow and the owners are looking for a more professional look for their site.... any comments on any of the possiblies are welcomed the third is my favorite so any comments on it would be even more appreciated.

Definitely the 3rd. I'm at work, but I'll try to comment later.

Great work on the layers. I opened it in Opera, Firefox, and IE 7 with no problems. The only thing I noticed was the background image didn't load quite as quickly as you might like? I'm close to a T1 connection. Other than that, great job

The third version of the site looks nice. It is professional looking and unique.

However, the side navigation bar does not look the the same in FF2 and IE7 for me.
FF - The navigation bar is aligned to the left cutting off the background image.
IE - The navigation bar is pushed to the right a little and looks fine.

Also the green links on the bottom navigation bar are sort of hard to read (for me).

Nice site and I hope this helps.

Site looks good. The only thing I noticed was that it could be a little bigger or bolder, but that's my personal preference.

Good Luck,

My choice would be #3 as well, I think it's the better design.
You've got some adjustments to make yet, the menu on the left is needs to come off the very edge. Once you get that bottom image positioned, it'll look good.

You need to get all those <br>s out of your lists, use margin and padding to space out your menu items. Same goes for spacing your paragraphs. Also, if you're going to go with XHTML, ALL tags must be closed, including <br>'s -- ie. <br />

The 3 line 'motto' at the top right is terribly light, you might consider darkening it to make it more readable. I'd also re-think the use of 3 <h1>s for that.

The general layout looks good, but the text seams to be out of place. Maybe you could format it differently or something.

I definitely like the first site; the colors really catch the eye -- not to mention, the NavMenu mouseover is a nice touch!

The other sites -- the NavMenu is too jerky, and they look like Blog templates which, IMO cheapens your site.

I would go for number two.
The USA flag over an eagle is a great touch.
I couldn't work out what the script at the left of the banner was all about. Perhaps I'm a bit thick ;-)
Good luck.

I like the second or third one the first one looks like it was designed by someone really new to website design. My only problem with the second design is that the border on the left hand side of the menu box is a broken line that looks like this:

|
New Items
6 Panel Caps
5 Panel Caps
Visors
Camouflage
|
|
Options
Information
Pricing
|
Visit USAMadeBags.com
|

It probably is just an alignment issue - the third design doesn't show the same problem for me.
