Well, advertise your forum to other blogs and forums..You can do SEO
also tell 5-10 of your friends to post in your forum and make the number of post increase a lot...

The key to forums is participation. If you have to spend an entire weekend having conversations with yourself answering all of the basic questions then do it. The key is to make it look like a lot is going on. By the looks of the forum you need more action in there before other people are going to participate as well.

Put good content in some of your threads and the search engines will crawl your site, hopefuly then you'll get more visitors

Ya, one tip I can give is maybe get a domain name. Free subdomains usually give a bad image. If you are like me and are on a little or no budget, well then ya it sucks. Second, find or write an article/ post and post them. This way the SEs will crawl and index your site. Third, try running a contest. Offer like 5 bucks to whoever can get 50 posts first. I actually tried this once and surprisingly two people tried. That was a hundred posts and my forum actually looked like it was happening. Good luck!
