Hi,
I am about to launch my site on January 20th and am about to finish it today. But I want to know if I should make any changes to the template before I continue going on with the PHP/MySQL end of the system.
So for now I just want to know what you guys think of the template and some things I can do to make it look better.
Simple. I would maybe implement more colors, as it seems a little drab. Also I would narrow the main content area, the text seems a little too small to have it be so wide.

On a technical note your pages all failed w3c validation, I would seriously look into it as this gives you lower ratings on search engines, and by fixing your code your page should load slightly faster. to check this out go to http://w3.org.
Another thing that I found and the validator won't is that your meta tags are non existant you should add a description meta tag, a keywords meta tag and possibly a robots meta tag or a robots.txt file to your site root. There is a great site that can validate your tags for you. http://www.widexl.com/remote/search-...-analyzer.html, lastly if you want to add a favicon you know that little icon that sits next to the URL.
I am not bashing your site, just trying to help.

That is extremely neat. It actually made me navigate through it a little bit so I say its nice and perfect. No changes, even though more info should be on the homepage. GREAT JOB !
i suggest more articles, which im sure are to come, spice up the logo and the colors didnt jump out at me, but all in all as a resource if i was looking for somthing like that and cam across it on a search engine i would use it
i agree.
work a little bit on graphical aspect. make a good logo/banner.
Also, loved your idea to put categories on right instead of traditional left side
one suggestion, places of login box and search box should be swapped.
You don't need a logo of 28.2kb for all of 2 colours. How does 391 bytes sound? That's converted to GIF with 4 colours (There's a slight change in appearance though). 501 bytes? That's GIF with 8 colours, no change in appearance.
Your link hover colour isn't too great on that background.
A lot of the styling that you do in the HTML should be done in CSS instead.
Personally I would put the news to the left and the articles in the centre.
Otherwise, I think it's fairly clean-looking and will be decent once you fix the coding etc.
