Website Review and Suggestions

addictads.com just added a new page - www.addictads.com/prinfo.php
Took me a while to make this work and still have some bugs.
a) I need is the general review.
b) What other information would be helpful on the page?
c) Is it helpful?
d) Any other comments?

Rasim the tool looks ok. The page rank didn't work for me at all and it had problems with Yahoo backlinks when I pointed to a subfolder of my site. It also only shows Alexa info for the main domain. It should be able to give that data for the subfolder.

I pointed to www.domain.com/subfolder/

The tool is also on the slow side. If you can improve the speed it would greatly enhance it.

The numbers seem good and I think the layout works well too.

You can add info from Technorati. The give out linking information too.

As far as being helpful. Not so much for me because I already have other tools that provide all the same information. But if I didn't have those other tools I might want to check yours.

I think making the few fixes and speeding up the tool are important. It might also be nice to be able to search more than one site at a time to be able to compare sites.

But do keep in mind that there are already a lot of tools that provide the same info. It can be hard to make your tool the one we go to without adding something really unique. Still it's a good job and looks nicer than a lot of others I've seen. I do like the clean and simple interface.

I agree with vangogh -- personally, I'd abandon the whole idea and come up with something "original".

Yes, I am currently working on it. Thank you. I figured out that the search engines do not also show the same text in the header and that is where the problem is comming form. Also, fo redirected sites like espn.com there is no alexa rating. I would have to work a bit more on it.

I tried to get PR script but all of them are for 32 bit servers. I have a 64bit and PRs do not show correctly so I had to find a website which shows prs in this way: www.website.com/?meta?blabla?ReqiestedPrSite.com
so I can fetch Ratings. Right now I am getting it from the slow one + it does not show PRs for some sites.

Hehe... Good thinking... At first I had two input boxes to compare 2 different sites, but it takes twice longer to fetch PageRank info.

I will just wait until I get a formula to get the pagerank.

I've seen sites that offer PRs for up to 20 websites at a time, however, I think it is too much... Plus, there is some marketing. Instead of loading up a page once with 20 sites and get one banner impression, people load page 20 times and we get 20 impressions... However, I will try to modify it for two websites so it will be easier to compare after I take care of loading speed issue.

I don't put any faith at all into predicted PR and never check it.

Technorati created a tool called Technorati This, which takes me directly to info about any site.

For indexed pages I generally go directly to the search engine in question. I don't check how many pages have been indexed all that often once I know a site has started to be indexed. I will check if I think there's a supplemental issue or maybe duplicate content issues, but I usually don't need it all that often and checking at the search engine has generally been enough for me.

As for the backlinks I don't worry much about what Google shows since they really don't provide enough useful info. I check Yahoo links at Yahoo Site Explorer.

For more detailed information about links I use SEO for Firefox. I also use some of the other tools on the SEO Book site for links and keywords.

A lot of information though I'll just grab from search engines using some of the advanced search operators they allow.

at that time we just started and did not have many members. Now we have on average 5-6 people registering a day as we spend more time and money on advertisement. Also, it depend on how many points you have - if you have more than others, yourt site will apper first on the list to them. Come by couple times a week for now. When I used the tool, I got a blank white screen while it was processing. Maybe some spinning naked women or something might help pass the time

. If you could get it to lie about my pagerank, that would make me feel better also.

Where are you syndicating this tool from? IF you are taking each source from a deparate resource, try finding sites affering a similar service to what you are trying to do and take it from them, could be a lot faster. Such a long processing time and a blank screen will make visitors leave.

IT is separate sources, however, I found why it takes so long... Google, yahoo, msn, alexa and altavista are fast... I need to redo my Pagerank and probably get read of technorati as they are super slow.

Although it is kind of cool to have technorati... noone else has it.
