Hi,
I'm new to this forum so please bear with me.
I toured around your site and tried selecting some products for checkout. I'm not offering a professional opinion but having set up my own site and thought about how it could be useful to me I offer the following humble suggestion:
I don't see anything wrong with the site and could only make one or two suggestions for small alterations.
However, my first thoughts are about why someone would choose to buy this kind of product over the internet, considering that postage is added on, and many products are available to them in a local health store where they can buy over the counter. Therefore perhaps if you haven't already done so you could think about focusing your target consumer, this might be for example for disabled or housebound people that can't visit a shop. You could then advertise this fact somewhere on the homepage. What I'm trying to say with this is to find a way of making your site and what you're offering unique or unusual in some way.
Sorry if I'm going over stuff you've already thought of, but I think personally that it's to do with the content of your site rather than the design, and I certainly wouldn't rush into spending more money on the latter thinking that this will increase your sales.
I'm guessing that with this kind of business idea you will have to be patient to build up visitor's confidence in buying and getting them to return to your site. Perhaps talk to some marketing people as I'm certainly not ne of those. Also I would check out sites offering similar products and see what they're offering. You probably already did this.
And if you sell these things off the internet too think how the site fits in with your overall business and how you can link it up, maybe from printed leaflets and certainly by establishing links from other, busier related sites. Again if it was me I would think about specializing and finding some niche that hasn't been covered.
I've been told it's a slow process.
As I said there are a couple of things I thought of that you could consider for adding to the site. The first is perhaps a few lines of text at the beginning, that captures the interest, doesn't necessarily have to be about the products but something that maybe makes people think about buying these products online, again its a marketing idea. It could be a quote from a customer or a very short anecdote, or anything at all that might make the home page stand out as unique and make people remember it. I suppose this could also be an image, perhaps a changing slideshow but not of pictures of your products cos you have enough of those. Maybe medium sized pictures of beaches or forests.
One thing I'm told attracts visitors back to the site is some kind of interactive element, for example enter some details about their lifestyle and they get back some kind of personal profile or recommendation of a product(s) for them to try. But I guess that's a little complicated and I don't know how much it would cost. I notice you have offers. I think they are a great idea.
Finally the jump menu on the home page contained only a !2!, some error there.
Have you thought about putting a search field in? People are lazy. I almost always use the search field straight away if browsing sites for something specific.
Hope some of this was useful,
woodstock
