Hi MrTom,
Thanks for sharing this project. Here's what I found.
On the links page, both the "gay to Z" link and the bottom link on the page (bglad) have missing images.
On the local info page, you quote the official bournemouth site. Is it possible to link to them here for extra credibility?
On the pubs and clubs page, can you get the boxes for each venue more uniform in size, or at least position? If not, maybe put the small ones in one row and the larger ones in another? They might be easier to line up that way.
The photo gallery loses a little uniformity (links at the bottom are gone, the page size is a little larger, and you've got the white background inside the border) but overall that page looks like you did a pretty nice job of integrating material from another service.
On the "almost didn't happen" page (2001) did the last paragraph get cut off, or is it just missing a period? Amazing story btw- it's always upsetting to hear of people being subject to this kind of harassment. Not unusual I know, just upsetting. Good piece for the site.
At the bottom of the page, I feel like I would center those two rows of links. That's just a gut feeling - I can't quite justify it, so you can of course (as with all this!) take it or leave it. I like the fact that whichever page you're on displays differently, with that smaller grey font, but I might go not quite so small, if that's an option. I would play around with putting an extra horizontal smidgen of space between the 2nd line of links and the url/copyright/email bar.
On most pages, that bottom bar (that I just refered to) is way at the bottom. Not so on the "almost didn't happen" page. I'm not sure what's happening there, as it's not the content forcing it down. For example, the contact page has less content but the links and bar are at the bottom. Can you make these uniform?
And when the bar is at the bottom, it's completely flush with the bottom of the page. I almost feel like a bit of it is being cut off. (That's just the feeling. I'm not saying it is.) But anyway, to avoid creating that sense, maybe having just a little bit of space below would look better. Just an idea. I'd try it and eyeball it - maybe you'll prefer it the way it is.
Finally, I had to scrape and scour to find these little issues. Overall it's well laid out and easy to navigate, and given that you're working with the colors of the scene, I think you put them together well. I enjoyed looking at the site and have my fingers crossed for 2005
