Website Review and Suggestions

Ive been working on NewsToolkit on and off now for a while, and it gets an 'ok' amount of traffic but nothing to brag about. Basically its a service that allows webmasters to choose a category of news and then have the headlines for the category appear on your site... theory being that if you have a site about Basketball then you can have headlines relating to Basketball on your site, or if you have a site about Music then you can have Music related headlines... its not too complicated

Anyway Ive been trying to think of things that I can add to the site in order to expand the site and make it a more attractive idea to webmasters.

Ive tried to keep the process as simple and clean as possible... I cant see anyone who is able to put a site online having a problem with it. Ive tried to include a varied list of news categories available for people to choose from so that theres a larger 'audience' for me to aim the site at, at the moment theres anything from 'World Economy' to 'Golf' hehe :hehe:

There were 1 other thing I had thought of that I could look into adding, it was to try and make some plugins for the popular scripts (like DNN, WordPress etc etc) to make it all easier for people using those scripts... which I keep promising myself to do but never get around to it.

Just after some/any ideas that other people would do if they were behind a site like this...

I would try adding some color.

One of the easiest things you can do while keeping that same layout (which is a decent layout) is to add a background. I would use a DARK grey background on both sides of the main content area. Make the grey about 100-200 px wide, and make sure you leave a good amount of padding between the background and the main content area. That will focus my eyes directly where the content is. Use a repeating image, perhaps with an even darker border where the image meets the white space near your content.

Just try that out if you are interested and see how it works out for you

Oh and there is a spelling/grammar error: "NewsToolkit allows webmasters to include the latest news headlines on their website thewith minimum of fuss."

Maybe you meant: "NewsToolkit allows webmasters to include the latest news headlines on their website with the minimum amount of fuss."

Thanks for the reply s0c0 - when I was looking for the error you pointed out I also found 2 others. *doh*

I'll test out the darker background idea on my local machine and see how it looks, perhaps upload it aswell and see what others thing. Thanks again
