Hello everyone!
I'm a novice web designer and I've created a new layout for my personal website. I would especially like to know what you think about the unorthodox layout and graphics. The layout is basically the whole window split by the golden ratio (38% and 62%) with a huge reference image on the left and content on the right. I know the image size is large (50 to 100 kb) but I've decided to compromise and go along with this sort of a design unless people think it's a REALLY bad idea.

Features:
- XHTML 1.0 Strict compatibility
- CSS

Thank you in advance!

Review Time! Yaaaayyy! Shouldn't be to extensive, it's a small site...

Initial Opinion
Interesting colors, a lot like interior design more-so than music. News posts are short and informative, that's nice. All the links work, not a lot of content.

Design-wise
It's very dark and basic. These colors work well together, but they aren't necessarily screaming "serene mood music". Since you seem to like earthy tones, perhaps you could integrate blues, yellows, etc into theme? Something to lighten it up a little, it's contrasting with your concept, IMO. A nice layout though. The text for the links isn't really grabbing me. Perhaps an Icon or bolding them or something. Something that really pops "navigation."

Content-Wise

The only real content is the music, so...I suppose it's a personal preference. (I'm not one for ambiance, no offense, just not my style.) Might I suggest the script from radioblogclub.com that allows you to stream music? It would be more easily accessible to your members were it embedded. Just a though. The short biography was an interesting read, a little trippy. Overall your content is content. Nothing outstanding unless you like ambient music. So, check your guestbook for those opinions.

Services
None offered, none reviewed.

Overall
It's a good site, there's nothing majorly wrong with it. It's the type of website that's good for people who follow that particular concept. You could work on the colors, maybe make it a more colorful earthy. Tap into your inner ambiance. Other than that..well...there's nothing I can really suggest.

i like the colors although i agree with sneakyheathen that they are a little dark. to me music is suppose to brighten up your day not darken it. the picture on the left didn't come up for me in my browser so maybe that would have made a different.
spacyjane
otherwise i like the layout too, simple and direct and not a lot of clutter which so many have

It looks really good. I would change the contact page and make a automated form so that you don't have to display your email at all. If you do choose to do this, make sure you add some type of image verifciation so they can't spam you.
