Website Review and Suggestions

Hi, this was the first proper thing I have ever made in Flash and I’m just wondering if it’s any good? Its a website for my band (dum-fox) Its quite a big file (about .5 mb) so if you haven’t got broadband it may take a while to load and there’s no loading movie yet unfortunately. I’ve tried to include lots of hidden links and things to keep people interested, like the fox being movable for example. Please let me know what you think any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks,

I like the buttons on the flash. Little hard to read the text. Not sure if I like the logo for the band name.

Well, I personally do not like anything about this site. The buttons are incredibly hard to read, and the color scheme is terrible. There is way too much stuff moving around both in the body and in the buttons.

The logo is about the only thing I do like, but it needs to fade in once and stay there. Not in and out like it is.

I do not like the way you have to click to scroll the news section. I would much rather just use the mouse wheel to scroll rather than having to click to get one new line.

Last thing, the site is not able to be maximized. This creates two problems. One, I get distracted very easily, if I can see something around your site, I will probably end up there. Second, it just looks funny. I have a 19" monitor, but your site only takes up about 14" of that. Let me maximize your site.

A preloader to tell how long it's going to take for the movie to load is one of the first things you'll need to add. You'll need to know a bit of Actionscript and be familiar with whatever Flash program you're using.

Here's a tutorial on creating a preloader (Not tested by me).

The buttons need work. Green and purple are very clashing colors, as well. The text is fairly difficult to read.

I find no broken links, nothing very objectionable about your site.

Overall, the colors need work, and you need a preloader. A good personal band site.

I agree about the text. It is hard to read when it is small. Also, the whole site is too busy. It is like you are trying several ideas at once and they don't go together.

And then there is the ENTER button which doesn't even fit with anything.

This turned out easier to review than i thought it would be. I couldnt read most of the links & one in particular still cant tell what it says (top right ) - squeyy? hanqs ?? yhangs? possibly thanqs?? or even thangs??? not sure at all.

Frames bit kind of irritated me because i couldnt click & hold down on the arrow to scroll, eventually i worked out that i had to keep clicking (on laptop without one of those mice with wheels) so pretty annoying after a while daft though it may seem.

Why an intro screen that stays on screen & then photos that open in another window even though it isnt obvious I ended up with 3 windows open for your site and wasnt sure I needed them especially since the gallery one was simply a new browser window not a reduced window box if u see what i mean.

I kept having to squint at the screen to read it.

Otherwise a funky effort & neat colour scheme for a band. (although i will say i hated the lime green, purple & shades of grey on the forum & you couldnt read a thing!) Anyway good luck with the band but maybe some readable text links would be a good idea to start with.
