Website Review and Suggestions

it is around 3 months old, I have recently changed the design of it and would like your opinions on it, and anything you think that I can improve.

I personally find the colors to dark.
But I'm biased here, as I'm a long supporter of white/grey soft colors, almost burned to white.

What comes fast to my mind too is that the site looks "compressed" on the left.
I'm on a 4/3 screen on 1280x1024, and I have a big white section of my browser on the right.
It's too much contrast with the black/orange on the left.
Either try to center the content, or specify a darker body background.

I see a lot of text on the index, but there's no index or summary ?
I don't think many peoples will scroll all the way down.
At least, I wouldn't. I'd add a summary box at the top, a bit like you can see on wiki pages.

Finally, as cool looking is your widget on the right, it's slow to load, and almost freeze my comp for 3 seconds when displaying it.
It may be my comp (I'm on winXp, and it's so slow compared to linux), but on a p4 3Ghz with 2Go ram, it's a bit extreme nonetheless.

It's better I find. The contrast less violent.
But really this big space on the rightis annoying....

Why not try something like that:

I simply added align="center" on your 2 tables, and style="margin: aut o;" on your footer to achieve that.

The human eye and brain like the symmetry.
Peoples will tend to find your site more equilibrate if there is a proportionality concept in the layout.

i've got to say, David, that I like tripy's center style better. Ultimately its your site and it should be what you want. But IMHO, that centered one is much nicer.

I am not of fan of the color scheme. It reminds me of holloween. Also the text in the header is tough to read.

at higher resolutions your text tends to disappear. Site looks nice though

You should change widht to 95%. Otherwise align the whole site to the center. Everything else fits together.

wow i really like the design, however i would add a black shadow on the top image text, as orange is kinda hard to see with the background.

and i would make the adsense background grey, like the rest of the site so it blends in.

Definitely need to put it in the center - tripy has got the right idea.
Try bolding the words that are in orange, as they have a tendency to dissappear. If that doesnt work - I would reconsider the color choice.
Also, when you click into some of the links (ie Forums) - it opens a new window and you cannot get back to your homepage from that new window. For consistency - maybe use the banner and color scheme on your homepage throughout the site. Make it so that if you click on the banner, it links you back to the homepage.

May I suggest using yellow instaed of orange. Also how about thowing a bit of green and blue somewhere in there. I would also lose the grey, It really kills it for me.

I thought it would be good to have a white background on the main text.
