Hey,

I've created a friend code sharing site for Nintendo DS users that allows users to easily store and share their friend codes with ease.

Some useful links are
http://www.nintendo-friends.com/
(How does it look and feel for you?)
http://www.nintendo-friends.com/user/drewtown/
(How do you feel about the pop out games?)
http://www.nintendo-friends.com/user...interfriendly/
(pretty boring, but useful)

The bottom two are examples of how the page looks when viewing somebody else's friend code pages.

It's very good that you say what your website is about. I for one didn't have any idea what a friend code is.

Do you have a written permission from Nintend to use their name in the domain name? If you don't, you could be in trouble, it's not usually a very good idea to use someone's trademark without their permission. Same goes with the Mario graphics, do you have the right to use them?

The overall look is a bit dull for my taste, the colors are quite dark and the entire layout looks a bit too much like a blog than a real website. And the site really lacks a basic navigation system, there are links here an there but no real navigation. Why not extend the "Home Forum Login ..." link bar and add links to all the main feature there?

Also, your Registering box should really say why I would like to register. How does that benefit me? You could also add a button under the text that says "Register". After I clicked the Register link I only saw a long page of legal text. Why don't you first introduce the service, why should I register? Also tell users that you don't sell their contact details. Then, have a new "Registrer now" button which allows the users to register.

I hope this helps.

I kind of like the site.

I tend to agree with the above poster, especially in regards to the colors. I think that it has a cleanish design, but the site doesn't grab me; it's not inviting enough for me to want to spend time there. Maybe a different color scheme would help, I'm not sure.

Navigation isn't really an issue for me, but it is a bit weak; possibly some improvement there as well.

I think it's an interesting concept; though I'm not familiar with gaming of any sort so I don't know the market.

I would be careful with the use of the name/images as well; some hosting companies are quick to act on every legal request, whether there are justified or not so that they protect themselves, just saying you should be careful (and keep regular website backups) unless you have express permission to use these things.

I had a problem with the right hand side of the page. The second bar, the lighter gray bar, was offset incorrectly. Check out the screenshot at http://www.loganwest.com/images/screenshot1.jpg You'll probably want to fix that.

Also, I've got to agree with Jouni and Rob, the layout and design is very clean and works well, but its also very blah. It doesn't totally grab me. You might want to think about adding a more graphic inspired header or some more vibrant colors or something.

My 2 cents.

Thanks for your replies.

I am currently in the process of looking for a more vibrant color scheme. I never really though about the navigation either so I might try and make that a bit better.

Also Loganeast could you tell me what browser and version you are using so I can attempt to fix it?

Also about the copyright issue I have tried to contact them about the use of their name and graphics and haven't heard anything back from them (several months ago), and since I am not making any money off of the website and the time being I don't see why it would be a huge deal. I guess I am not a copyright lawyers or anything but if anything I'm promoting their product. If anybody has any advice on this I'd love to hear it.

I'm on Vista with IE7.

I think the fact that you don't make money off the site will help you with the copyright issue. I don't think you're totally in the clear till you get their permission, but you're better covered if you're not making money.
