Website Review and Suggestions

I have been developing this site where users can submit their travel related prices. For now, the site supports hotels. The reason that hotels are a good place to start is because there is a pretty big disparity between hotel vendors depending on the method by which they are sold. For example, priceline.com has amazing deals, but you can't choose the hotel beforehand.

Enter travelgoop.com. Users can search/sort/filter hotel information. It helps take away the mystery at sites like priceline and hotwire. It also allows for easy price comparison and archiving of all hotel prices.

I would appreciate all feedback regarding the site. Especially functionality and presentation of info (what could you do without/what would you like to have acccess to).

The graphics on your site looks very cheap, especially the small header image. I'd recommend you to hire a graphics designer (it only costs a few bucks) and get yourself a new set of graphics.

I don't quite get the idea of the Google Maps thing on the front page.

One major problem in your site is that you had to explain yourself. A good website review request works like this "Hi, this is my site: www.something.com, could you review it please?". Your site doesn't explain itself at all, it's very difficult if not impossible to say just looking at your front page what your site is actually about. Sure, one can figure out that it has something to do with hotel prices but that's about it.

What you need to do is take the information from your post, improve and polish it and put it on your site. Otherwise no one can be able to use your site.

I agree with jv16.
When I come on the main page, I don't know what to do and what it is about. Maybe some explanation there will be usefull. But I like the idea and think it can be a success.
