Not bad. Warm inviting colors. Try using one of the oranges for the borders around the content and navigation. Also, some padding is needed for the categories navigation.
The layout is simplistic, which people will like on an article site since there's no distraction from content.
However your content is way down below. I personally don't like to scroll down to see the main content.
You could slim down the header, move the google ads (or even better remove them), maybe moving the featured articles to the left div.
