Website Review and Suggestions

Hi all,

Please could you review my site. To be honest I'm still a beginner at webdesign and still learning as i go along.

Anyway I had this idea a little while ago, its called Football Club Tycoon. Its basically an advertising site whereby you can buy a football club to advertise and promote your site. You can increase your clubs value by using banners sent to you and also using real life scores and achievements. You could also sell your club in future and make a nice little profit.

You might want to put some information on what the site is about on the home page.
That field will have weeds growing out of it in a while.

1.Don't like the background (not the footbal field) - it is distractive on LCD monitor, and looks buggy when scrolling. Maybe you should try another bg pattern
2. The site looks like uncomplete - big football field on the center without any information
3.logo on the top legt corner should be with transparency
and so on...

1) To much grass. If not for the URL I'd think it was some kind of landscaping or turf growing company. Seriously cut the field into about 1/4 of it's size give yourself some whitespace to work with and throw in some content.

2) Speaking of content the landing page has none except links. I'm not going to click on links to find out what a site is about. You need to sell me as a consumer a reason to click on your links. A giant grass field isn't going to do that. It may make you think of football, but like I said above I think of landscaping and work.

3) In both IE and FF when you scroll it flashes along both borders. Looks very funky. I'm on a laptop so not sure if that's the case for everyone or not.

4) It fails validation.

5) The page loads kind of slow I think mainly because of the picture of the field, but that hidden javascript counter you have probably doesn't help. I know on my site getting rid of that helped out quite a bit as far as page load speeds went.

I don't really like the menu. Seems a bit out of date.
Also, I agree with the others that have suggested to make the club badges transparent.

Hello,

I can't get why it looks not so good on my TFT especially grey backgound color while loading - I have not so good internet connection.

And your green grass area is to big.

Other than that - is good!

Hi I am in agreement about the posts above...plenty of wasted real estate

I have some SEO basic things for you, however

The page is loading over 80 seconds @ 28.8 you need to try to get that under 30. Use CSS and create a style sheet with the images. You can also safely remove those webbot tags. You can also reduce the colors in the images or crunch them to help.
You need at least 30% text on the page to carry any keyword weight and get indexed.
You need a Doc Type..Check them out here
Give your images and links "alt" text containing some keywords.
Your title tag is too long and contains noise or stop words like (an,of,and,or,and)
Your keyword tag has too many words to be effective. Add the text you need to the page, publish it..then use this Keyword Density Tool to pick 15 or less keywords or phrases from your content...10 would be better.
Try a Heading H1 Title up top with some keywords
You need a 301 permanent redirect telling the search engines which version of your site to index http://www.football.... or http://football... Without it Google especially thinks you might be cheating...submiting both pages for indexing. This is the more than likely the reason your main page is indexed under both versions and they are both in the sandbox.
Additionally either in server setup or htaccess you need to establish the default directory indexing for your main page. Same reason as above..right now Google sees http://www.site.com/index.html and http://www.site.com/ as 2 different pages.
You will need a sitemap.xml and robots.txt also..there are many sites that can generate these for free.

If you have hope of gaining nice position in Google, you need to take care of that www / no www canonical issue ASAP...you have already been basically penalized as Google booted both versions to the supplemental index. I only took a gander at your main page, but these things apply to all pages for indexing success.

Hey, I'm not sure I understand the website and how its suppose to workout or whatever, however, the layout is clean, I don't like the background either, not the grass, thats tight, but the other gray area seems fuzzy and distracting. It could use some fix ups here and there but its got potential for sure.

Good job for a beginner. The site is very clean, nice simple rollovers, but I'd like to see a larger header with a nice football graphic.

Well done on your 1st attempt!

Found the vast amount of grass daunting. Did not get the concept until I had a look around.

Worried that somebody who browses to the site would leave quickly as they would not see the point. More text at the top???

The layout is a bit boring. Maybe you could go find a template somewhere and start from that. It looks as if you've just started learning html. Liven up the site imo

When I first saw the grass I really liked it was very surprising and quite unusual!!! ... but yes after a few seconds looking at it i think this interesting concept would be better replaced with more information like the other posters said.. 1

The site is very clean with good simple rollovers. The grass is cool but too much of it is a turn off. You could use those spaces for some content instead.
