Alex (zingbats), it is a great sign of ameturism if you have not done proper research into the best file format for each purpose. Blindly choosing random file formats just to get a wide mix is an extreemly foolish method to employ. There will always be a superiour file format interms of one type of media and this file format should then be employed.

so in your opinion despite large size png is better? my header graphic for example is 759 kb as a png but the jpg version is only 18kb. I always though that exporting & compressing my graphics into gifs or jpegs whichever suited best was better as they were smaller. Portable network graphics (thats right isnt it for png files) just seem so large ! sorry if we are getting a bit off track here

Hi Tonya, hope you're having a whale of a time...I've seen your new site...cool. I've been to the drawing board too, but mine is nothing compared to yours. And the logo must be added too... You can vote using my online poll (see homepage top). Maybe a couple of links on your site are not working?

You are correct about portable network graphics, they are obsenly larg and for what reason? none. The best thing they are used for is in Flash sites.

cheers italica ! yes added & changed travel pages to include more travel info & a few new features on marine biology ! Dived yesterday off anglesey (cold & murky) but might have to get on & work on diving section! anyway cheers for comment.

re png files - i did a few trial runs & actually manged to get some very clean small png files using png 8 (not png 16 or 32) png 8 only one that supports transparency too. But only same size as gifs although possibly a bit sharper. That took a while though & for jpegs usual jpeg export & compression was much better ! so i agree with mike!
