Hi guys...

Just looking for input on: http://www.silverlineweb.com

I know the colors have nothing to do with a "silver line", but I like this green/blue scheme...

The Green color pinches the eyes....if you can put little dark shade of green it will be more appreciable and good for visitors....rest is fine....

For Web site directory site, the design is acceptable, the thing i didn't like is that people needs to pay to submit their site, in that way you won't attract people to your site. It is easy to navigate through it, and colors are also good. My rating would be 6.

The thing I look for in a website is readability. You have a nice clear font and large too! As far as being easy to navigate, its a directory. It's pretty clear where you will go when you click a category. The colors are pleasing to the eyes. You should have no trouble attracting content.

I like the figure on the top right corner and i think that you should open Photoshop and put the same form on the green background image behind the categories

The site is easy-to-navigate and the colour scheme is good. Having a link to another general directory may send visitors away and having a link to a Russian dating site just looks strange! (Just my opinion).

If I were you, I'd let the directory be free for the first couple of months so you build up plenty of content. Once that's happened, you can start charging on new submissions - no-one will want to pay to enter a directory with only a few links in, because the directory probably won't have that much quality traffic.

An after-thought: a search box might help with navigation, certainly once you've got quite a lot of content

Thanks for all the tips guys!

As for the russian brides link, it will be gone soon...

I'd like to make it free, but last time I tried that I got tons of "viagra" and "cialis" submissions... I want only REAL sites... Still working on a way to do that...

Thanks again

tarponkeith: the way around that may be a CAPTCHA of some sort, although I don't know of any with ASP. You might have to write your own.

The other option may be to use regular expressions and have a database to store the obvious bad words: viagra, cialis, viagralistermine, etc.

I'm with others as far as allowing for free submissions. I've always had a problem with paid directories since they create a financial bias against those who can't afford to pay for directory submission (or who have sites that don't fit the paid directory model, such as personal sites). It's fine if it's an add-on and you still allow free links, but not as a standalone model.

I tend to agree with seowebdesigner...sort of. The green is fine in the logo, since it's an accent colour there, but as the body of a page it's a little much. I don't think you need to darken it, though...go the other way with it and make it an almost white colour (something along the lines of #F0FFF0).

Not much to add other than that.

Adam,
Thanks for the input!
I spent the last few hours working on some other projects, so I'm done with computer stuff for the night, but I'll look into CAPTCHA for it tomorrow... And I'll play around with a different background color

Thanks again for the input everyone

The site looks very good but you are never going to get people to pay for a link on a site that doesn't have any other links on it - therefore no decent traffic.
You need to make it free and get a good 200-500 cross links on there first. There are plenty of techy ways to avoid spamming - and/or if you really behind your idea then spend some time removing bad links.
At least add some links yourself so there are no empty categories.

I've seen all too many directories with horrible layouts and color schemes. Yours is quite nice, good job!

For Web site directory site, the design is acceptable, Though it seems lacking some personal touch. Strikes me as a default design with any personal touches

Very elegant color combination and nice layout. Very easy-to-navigate and cool image on the top right corner. Maybe add some links to drive traffic.
