The site is OK but something about it puts me off it.

Make the font bigger so its easier to read and make the icons bigger too. (the file ones and the ones at the top of the page)

The text under the "activists and organizations" needs to be changed:
1) It is too long - it goes nearly as far as the "personal sites" section which does not look good.
2) It starts off by repeating the header of that section (activists and organizations around.....) - not a good idea.

Get a better logo - that looks like the free ones that you can get from cooltext.com which really aren't that brilliant (sorry if it isn't from that site but it just reminds me of their sort of thing).

The content itself is good - of course you need more, but that'll come

* The very first impression isn't very good because of Logo. It looks unsuitable on the page. The reason is in background color, to my mind.
Try to make Body background warmer, brighter.
Also it seems that you tryed to make your site in style of "Pixel" graphics and logo is made in another style.
I would try to make the logo more illustrative.

* Try to add bullets to your left nav links and put more left-right paddings there.

* I agree with Whym - Upper navigation is too tiny. It's hard to read and to differ one item of another.
Btw, it may be interesting to make a header in bright green-orange colors with the upper nav in it. I think that overall composition may become better.

* Rating stars - why did you do them black? Feels like AntiRating

* Rate a Resource - gray background and "?" after each upper menu item.

Huh... that's all for now. There are no borders of Perfection, but you have to do some work.

I think you need some good graphics to catch the eye and as Ksaniya said the logo is not really good... I personally do not think the problem is in the background color (the orange - green combination is not bad) but in the font... try this:

I am just kidding... I am sure you'll design something better

I did not like the color combination. The logo might be better i guess. Try to use a meaningful one..

Your web ins't bad, but I will change anything for example:
The logo on the the lef, I don't like, create a different logo. Also the logo is in out the table. The web directory on the right is smaller than on the left

Very clean and all...but yes, I would say maybe increase that font size a bit and change the logo to have a little more of a "wow" factor...logos can say a lot. Good luck!
