I think the look is alright, if not a bit stretched.
The idea however has some flaws in my perspective.
1. Even for the 3$ people wont want to claim a city unless there site is already moving. And the site can't get moving unless people claim cities. It would be better if it were free
2. The Large/major cities have just as much weight as tiny ones, therefore as soon as one claims Denver, you have cut off all traffic/revenue from Denver. Might want to have more than just one person per city.
3. There is no organization to the whole thing, I don't see myself searching through internet sites solely based on the city they originate in. If I want books, or grapes or pens I'll look for a site that has these things easily organized, not patrol hundreds of cities looking for something I need. You might want to add a "Organize by topic" or some such thing.
4. its 3$, whats the incentive to make that purchase if one believes that there think wont be seen by anyone.
Overall I think it is an interesting Idea, but you should add more than 1 listing per city and offer it for free as well as add some sort of organized hierarchy. Otherwise I don't see it working out

What exactly does "claim" mean? Do I actually own the city?

ROFL, If this was actually "frequently asked question" I would speculate that your visitors should visit one of many mental health websites. If you are going to make up FAQ, have it be a plausable question
