I did not choose colours or make all the decisions about what colours worked best - the customer had a lot of input and specifically wanted certain colours choosing.

I worked hard however to ensure a half way between what I felt looked good & what the customer wanted and ensure I wrote a table less totally CSS based site.

Comments much appreciated !

Colors are always a personal choice. One person may like a particular color while the other might think differently. There would be as many color schemes as the designers. So don't bother yourself too much about that. Your site looks good.

It's funny that I see this now because for the last hour or so I've been looking at B&B sites and some of them were just awful. This, however, is very nice. It's clean, easy to read, and easy to follow.

A few things:

* For me in firefox, some of the links in the yellow boxes (like on the house and area page) are pushed to the side and out of the box.

* The B&B booking form page doesn't work.

Aside from that, I didn't notice anything else. And after looking at some other B&B sites, this was refreshing.

Thanks for the reviews.

lilycup I have actually posted a notice on the CSS help board on this website to ask if anyone can help me work out why the menu is 'off' in firefox. I also noticed it & was sorely tempted to take out the CSS menu & replace it with a simple table & rows but am resisting in the hope inspiration will hit me. I think I will have to do a browser check. But thanks a lot for your comments.

Goheadtry - The domain name already exists & has an old website on it. I have only posted this new site on my own development space for now as I do not want to replace the existing site until the new one is completely ready. I don't hold with seeing - under construction notices & only ever post a website live after it is completely finished and the customer has agreed & paid the invoice(or agreed payment plan). They then get the website upload with a file with notes & a CD with the files on just in case in future they want someone else to update it. I actually get a lot of work from people who have fallen out with designers & lost their websites as the designer then pulls it offline & refuses to hand over files. So I work to the ethic that once the website is done its theirs but I do try & make sure they are happy first! I use a space of my own to test on so the www.bitsmail.co.uk I own!

Thanks guys for comments & I hope to fix the cross browser issue asap.

If your client likes it and pays up, then that's all the counts

The problem with the menu in FF is because IE uses margins on UL's and FF uses PADDING. So, make your left margins and left padding match and you'll have better luck on both fronts.

Nice job, by they way. I want to point out though that you shouldn't be using that 'absolutemiddle' allignment, use the css for that.

Thanks you are a star as always. I have sorted the menu out now thanks to your advice.

Where have I used absolute middle? I will check & sort it out because of course I should do thta in my CSS.

I am trying to follow the -tables be gone- & stick to CSS for all my layout as well as formatting but sometimes I slip into old habits.

I think it looks fabulous compared to many B&B sites I have seen... a lot of them are stuck in the early 90's design wise. This design is very clean and the colors compliment one another well. Great job!

Compared to many B&B sites, it's way ahead of the curve.

Your menu can use some padding and a cleaner font.

The header can be fancier.

I like the colors myself.

What sort of font do you think? Verdana, Arial?

What do you think I could do to header? Different font maybe?

Thanks for positive feedback though - customer likes it too - thankfully!

The Dell house sounds fancy, maybe some filigree (sp?) in the header?
The first of the 2 house pictures isn't very glamorous...the 2nd one looks better. Maybe widen and blend the 2nd picture into the header or add a curve?

I'm still not sure about the fonts in the menu, it matches the rest and changing to Verdana might make it look odd. You don't see serif fonts in menus much, I guess that's why it struck me.
