I must say that before I even clicked on the link to the site I thought, ok this is going to have a black background, what a surprise. No content and too many adwords. Sorry but I don't really see much of a design, to me it just looks like a big Google ad.

Well that's kind of obvious, wouldn't you say? What color does tattoo vault sound like to you? Was I to make a bright colorful site with pink roses?

I have designed a tattoo site as well so I know the frustration of designing a nice presentable one. You did a good job at presenting the site. I would have the pic open in a new browser window made to fit the pic. It eliminates the back button.

The layout you use makes does make it look like a big google ad like Webcyte says.

1) Reduce the spacing between the ads at the bottom or make them into a column and put them on the right in the black area next to the picture.

2) I couldn't find your gallery right away, that menu is a little small.

I thought your site looks to much like a domain vampire site at first glance because of all the adds on the top.

You know those sites with a lot of adds usually in the shap of a rectangle and are like a fake search engine with lots of adds and 30 domains for the same page so they make ad revenue I would clearly mark my ads with images that say add like in a box.

If I thought this I wonder what others have been thinking open and close because some domain vampires sites have spyware.
so make it define that adds more clearly perhaps in tables that are a different color then your page that say advertisement in them.

First of all - very sly sticking those Ads at the top center of your page - I ALMOST clicked on one of them thinking it was part of your navigation

Hell, I'll click on it for you to make you a few cents anyways. Done.

Alright, down to business. Very minimalistic design. Your site has too many ads. There is a very fine line between having enough ads and having too many. Advertisements are on the top, bottom and right of your site. I think you should get rid of the ads at the bottom and possibly the right as well. This would allow for more space for your content.

This site is very simple so there really isn't much to critique.

I like the usage of darker colors. I also like how you've designed the site so that it stretches depending on the window size.

Nice and functional, that's true. But I suggest that you make the gallery elements a little bigger, that would make it easier to navigate.

ok so the ads are really distracting - may be if they are at the bottom of the page will be better

you need a logo too i think - the way it is now is just too simple - or at least change the font to something more Gothic

I think by content we all mean actual words. It does seem like you have lots of graphical content.

I like the minimalism, but the guys are right. Those ads are a little obtrusive. I think maybe it's because they're on the same line as (and are more prominent than) the top navigation.
IMHO get rid of the ads on the homepage, no-one will click them anyway and they reduce the look of the site. Keep them on the pages with actual content (I mean the pics and galleries here) but separate them from the navigation somehow. You could move the nav links up to the title bar but keep them the size they are, or move the ads down into the page, or something anyway.
And yes, some text would be great. It'd give people something more about the pics (like the artist, the subject, the inspiration etc...) and also make your ads more contextually relevant.

Your tattoos' gallery is really great and the website is not bad as well, but I should agree with the numerous comments above that you need more text on your homepage. Just tell your visitors something interesting either about your website or the main idea of it or probably about tattoos and their history. Not too much, but a little bit would be ok. And move those ads to the bottom of the page, because they are really distracting.

Cool site. Great logo. Tattoos gallery is really cool. Superb logo too. But you need more text on your homepage. Anyways good job.
