Introduction
Re-listed for sale is
FootballTransfers.info, a website that has been around for nearly ten years, providing people with the latest football transfers and rumours from around the world.
The site has been re-listed as previously it appeared that the site's valuation would not be met, therefore changes have been made to lower the value. Out has gone the news database and scripts. News can still be added to the site via the site's main administration area and appears on the front page. Now not included in the sale are the domains footballtransfers.co.uk and footballtransfers.net. There has been an addition though - the speculation archive section has returned and is now in full working order.
Reason for sale
After running the site for nearly ten years, the owner is looking to move on to new projects, and therefore hopes that new owners can come in and bring new ideas, inspiration and enthusiasm to the site.
History
The website was founded on the 13th of July, 1998. Its aim was to provide information on the latest transfer movements as this information was difficult to find on the Internet. It started out with just English and Scottish moves, but soon moved to cover other countries, thanks to the kind help of many people.
During an uncertain time in the summer of 2005, the site was merged with FootballRumours.info, a site which had been previously called 'Sublime Football'. This meant the inclusion of news and more indepth information on rumours.
FootballTransfers.info has changed domain name a few times. Originally it was called and located at Footballtransfers.co.uk, then moved on to FootballTransfers.net, and then FootballTransfers.info. Due to the aforementioned problems it returned to FootballTransfers.co.uk in 2005, which saw money invested to covert the website from ASP to PHP. At the same time the site was optimised to increase page loading times.
In 2007, further coding was completed to improve the administration area. These changes included allowing more than one user access to the administration area. Then following in September of that year the site finally returned to the main domain FootballTransfers.info after changing hosts.
Scripts
Hundreds of dollars have been spent on custom coded php pages. Sections of the squads, transfers and speculation update daily via crontab, otherwise most pages are cached to save server load.
There's two admin sections, one is for the main site where transfers can be added, player profiles can be created, etc. Everything is editable. The second admin is for news, where stories can be added, edited, etc.
Database
The website's database runs on MySQL. The database is currently just over 20.9 MB in size. It contains football data plus a poll database.
