I am new to the idea of purchasing and running a few web sites with the expressed purpose of making capital. I am very intriqued and have some investment capital at my disposal to make this happen.

I have browsed these pages and see a lot of information (and a lot of knowledgable people). With that said, I have a few questions that i am hoping that some of you would be kind enough to assist me.

1. How do i go about purchasing a site? other than agreeing to a price, what all do i need to know / be aware of before completing the transaction?

2. I assume there are individuals that would be available (for the right price of course) to help me create and launch a site, but can anyone point me to a resource for this?

3. What is the best practice for increasing traffic / SEO. Is there a resource for this that someone can point me to?

4. What is a reasonable expectation for (non store) revenue models? I see some people claiming that they are making $500+ per month in ad, click sales. Is this average? What is average?

5. Where can i go to learn how to launch and administer a website. I have launched some sitebuilder sites and the like but i know that does not say much.

6. Are there other resources for a 101 of purchasing, administration and making profit from a web site?

I am primariliy interesting in running 2 or 3 sites one of which would perhaps be an online store. I am really open to the genre.

Thanks so much for your time.

Hi,
May be I can help you even though I'm not too Pro. I was like you 2 years ago and now I own a hostingsite, softwareselling site, scriptselling site, paid2read site, auction site, and two safelist site. Here they are:
1. http://www.auction44.com (not for sale)
2. http:/:www.click4everything.biz (you could own this type of site for $23.99)
3. http://www.the-script-house.com (this one for $25.00 installation inc)
4 http://www.click4dollar.com ($35.00 install incl)
5. http://www.universalsafelist.biz ($49.00 ins incl)
6. http://www.euro-safelist.info ($49.00 install incl)
7. http://www.unisafehosting.com/submit/submit.php (website submission site for only $29.00 install incl)

Domain names are not included. Hosting is free for 3 months and thereafter $3.99/M==250M webspace.

That is probably the best thing to do before starting a site. The first thing is to decide why your starting a site. Then add up all the things you will need to do/buy/find to make your site.

1. I am very leery of people selling sites that are supposedly make so much cash. Figure out how much the site is actually making each month/year AFTER bills and expenses such as advertising. Then figure out how that site ranks in the top search engines for its top keywords and how many backlinks that site has. The one good thing about buying an established site is the backlinks/link popularity.

2. I myself am a web developer and would be more than happy to give you some assistance in setting up your site. And in my position know alot of people/sites that have information that might be helpful.

3. There are many sites that claim to increase se popularity. I have successfully optimized quite a few sites for google and could help you in that right as well if interested.

4. The average I have seen for our free hosting is about $100 out of 500 visitors but this can vary depending on the ads and whether they interest the customer. I have been told this is a good revenue and others say it is not so good.

5. Depends on what type of site you want to create, whether you want to delve totaly in or just touch the tip of the iceberg. There are alot of resources out there. And alot of them are free. You can learn Dhtml and CSS and create a nice looking site. You can learn php and html and make a nice site. At home I have a list of resource sites.

I can work out a web store for you if your interested. I can offer you good deals on hosting and web design for your two sites if interested. I am busy so if your interested please contact me soon so we can set something up.

If you are lucky you can find a great deal with a site making $30-80/mo. These sites (in my opinion) are ideal, because they have already been started, and are drawing in viewers. Once you have a core base it is much easier to advertise (since the cat is out of the bag). Now sites like these go for $500-1500, which is the best value (because anything that reels in anymore than that will ask for $5000+). Also made to sell domain names do not work unless you are very familiar with the business, and you are a guru with advertising.

So with all of that being said I would recommend you look at a listing like ZendURL.net or Shoot4Traffic.com (which are both on these forums).

Best of luck to you!
