Hi everybody,

Alchemy was built as an entry for the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2005 where is qualified for the International Finals. The site was made under the team name 'Mostly Harmless'

Following the sellers format :

1. Your name? - Sparsh Agarwal
2. URL(s) of site? - http://www.alchemy-education.com
3. Age of site? - 1 yrs
4. Approximately monthly page views and/or unique visitors? 30,000 / 3000 unique
5. How does the site generate income? How much? Mainly through Adsense . started adsense campaign very recently so income has been around 30$ (Cant declare actual income as per adsense rules )

6. Who develops content and administers the site? How much time does it require? the site is a completely developed reference resource . it requires very little time for checking emails from customers and replying to forum threads.
7. What is the monthly cost of running the site? absolutely nothing as monthly rental although Yearly registration of Rs. 1200 ie; around 27$ has to be paid.
8. Reason for selling? As stated earlier this is a distress sale. I really need to gather funds for my admission into NTU , Singapore. I request all of you to come out with generous offers. Alchemy is a really well built site and has a great potential for growth. Two years back I had sold http://www.beta-theta.com through this forum and today it is earning great revenue to the current webmaster (although he spoilt the design of the site) Please help me by buying my website.
9. Will you help with the transition of the site to the new owner?Absolutely. The transition will be as smooth as possible.
10. Does the site have an ezine or newsletter? Number of subscribers? NO newsletter
11. What all does the site include? The site includes comprehensive articles on science and math, including several graphics and links to various other good sites on the Internet. The site does not breach any copyright rules and has gathered information from third party sites comlying with their copyright notices. There is no privacy breach of the users and the site itself does not send any cookies to the users computer (except for adsense ) The message boards on the site are very helpful to students looking for information over the internet and the number of users is increasing fast. The site has a search facility . The design is simple , yet powerful and is optimised for search engines. Site is designed in such a way that a lot of ads can be placed in it without hurting user experience.
12. Asking price for the site? All bids above $1000 are welcome but please be generous because this sale is for the sole purpose of my education. I desperately need this money and I shall be highly obliged if you help me through this.

Websites normally sell for 12 times their monthly revenue. Assuming that you are making only $30 a month from the site, your site is worth $360, although you may find someone that may pay you more.

I would be able to give you a more accurate estimate though, but your website appears to be down currently.

Hi people...

The site has been made online once again. The hosting server had crashed.
Unfortunately most of the links wont work (entire backing up to be finished by Monday) but you can have a look at the design of the site. The main pages of each sub section are functional ..

Thanks once again
Sparsh

It is against Google's TOS for you to solicit people to click on ads. It's also called stealing from advertisers who pay hard earned money for their adverts. Many of them (like myself) are students as well.

Its not anything about integrity if I hope people click on the ads on my website. All I had written was

I am not forcing anyone in any way to click on the ads. There are so many sites which say that please help us keep it a free service by clicking on our sponsor ads. So what I have written is something very similar.

Still if it makes you feel something against my integrity then I cannot help it.

Cheers
Sparsh

I don't care how many sites do it. It's still against your agreement with Google to do so. Google states categorically that this behavior is not allowed.

Acording to Google's Adesense program policies at https://www.google.com/adsense/policies:

"Web pages may not include incentives of any kind for users to click on ads. This includes encouraging users to click on the ads or to visit the advertisers' sites as well as drawing any undue attention to the ads. For example, your site cannot contain phrases such as "click here," "support us," "visit these links," or other similar language that could apply to any ad, regardless of content. These activities are strictly prohibited in order to avoid potential inflation of advertiser costs."

And beyond what Nihlcat said you do realize what you asked right?

By soliciting clicks from people that have no interest whatsoever in purchasing or using the products being offered by the advertisers on your site you have in effect asked us to help you commit theft. You've asked us to pick someone's pocket and place the booty into yours.

Let's try another vantage point:

If you were spending 50c/click to advertise your site via Adwords and you found a webmaster asking people with no intention of using your site to click on your ads so he could get your money would you still feel that it is harmless?
