MatchFlick™ is a community of movie fans who use the web site to express their opinions and preferences in the realm of film. Part social networking site, part movie review system, part movie database, MatchFlick incorporates a large number of tools and content sources to create a unique online destination.
The site was started in September of 2004 and was developed from scratch in PHP and utilizing a MySQL database. All source code is completely original, property of MatchFlick, and included with the site.
MatchFlick's movie database was also developed from scratch by combining data from various resources to create a royalty-free film database.
MatchFlick members create profiles that highlight their favorite and least favorite films and people in film, their individual movie tastes, their favorite movie quotes, and more. Members can become FlickFriends with other members and can search for other members using a variety of methods.
MatchFlick members are also movie reviewers, able to review any movie in the MatchFlick movie database. Other members can comment on member reviews and discussions often rise surrounding new releases and old favorites.
MatchFlick has been featured on the Discovery Home Channel program Party Girl and on KICU's Q&A.
