General overview
I'm selling my unsigned music site ArtistBoost.com. It has around 300 registered bands with ca 550 uploaded songs. The domain was registered back in 2002 and it has currently page rank 3. Bands are able to register and add their information and also upload their songs to the site. An example band profile can be found here - http://frankib.artistboost.com/.

Site potential
As I haven't worked with the site for some time, the page traffic is ca 20/day. However, there's direct .mp3 traffic which could be taken advantage of. As I haven't forbid hotlinking, the right person could put sound ads in front of all the hotlinked songs. Currently together with mp3 traffic there's around 30 000 unique visitors a month, thus ca 1000/day.

Additional ideas
The site could use some rework generally plus maybe to add more text-content etc to the site as well - music reviews, news, articles. Could be developed into something that combines both music industry companies and artists, thus could work as a middle man between the two sides.

Revenue
In my ownership I haven't really put much effort into making it proftable (it's mainly been my hobby site), thus the site currently doesn't bring in revenue, but the potential is huge. I myself just don't have time due to all my other projects.

For who this site might be of any interest?
To work with something like that and at the same time to make it profitable you must have interest in music, unsigned musicians, etc. If you're interested in it, then you will definitely find lots of ways to make money with the site (more traffic-adsense revenue, PR-static link revenue, middleman between music managements and bands - commission revenue; plus if you add content like music related articles, reviews, etc...there's lots of possibilities)

Reason of selling
Need money to finance my other projects and lack of time to keep working on the site myself.

Asking price
Starting price is $2500.

Cheers

Hi Siim

I would like to know more about the database. Are the registered members of the site still using the service? and is there contact information for those who have registered? Also, can you explain a little more about the direct MP3 traffic you talk about.

I am more interested in the database than the site to be honest and i need to be sure that people are still using your service. If you can show me any information that the bands are usin your site then that would be a be step forward.

As I haven't worked with the site for a long time then it's just a bit difficult to give you all this information. But I'll try. There's around 300 registered bands of whom majority have also listed their email addresses and countries. Every once in a while I see new uploaded songs, not too many though. The daily page traffic like I mentioned isn't big - around 20uniques/day. Some of them are returning visitors. In average every month there's something like 5-10 new registrations.

One thing you need to understand here is that the site really hasn't been worked with for months (and if we exclude the design change, then the site hasn't been worked on marketing-wise for years). So generally speaking, when we are talking about the site not the db then it could use some major revedevelopment - more content, more marketing, etc etc. Actually I have a pretty good (and extensive) remake feature list which I have created, to be used in case of not selling the site.

When talking about direct .mp3 traffic then it's pretty much hotlinking to .mp3's directly. Generally it's a bad thing. But if you managed to add automatic jingles in front of all .mp3's via .htaccess or something then this way sound ads could be sold. Just a thought.

So let me know your thoughts. I can also be contacted via email ( editor[ aaat]thecheers.org, only be sure to put artistboost.com to he subject)

Cheers
